(I know its a dig)
No matter what recommendation you follow, always measure the pressure cold, i.e. the car has been driven less than 1.6 km. Hot tires will show higher pressure, this is natural. Don't let air out of hot tires, thinking the pressure is too high. Never fill air less than manufacturer recommendations.
Follow the manufacturer's recommendation for ride comfort; it is not good for fuel economy, handling characteristics, or tire wear.
Pump them up to max sidewall for better handling characteristics, lower rolling resistance, much better tire life, and better wear across the tire; braking will be slightly impeded, and the ride will be a bit harsher. I recommend that everyone should use max sidewall pressure, or close to max.
Personally, I use more pressure than the max pressure at the sidewall, but I wouldn't recommend that to anyone, unless you are a specific kind of driver.
