Crucial decision Gli vs City

Get a Gli/Xli 1300cc and it would be better than the city...

Corolla's suspension is no match to city's you literally feel each and every crack of the road in a Honda city.. although I am a honda fan, but Honda has lost the "practicallity" battle long ago... I am not praising toyota either but this remains a fact that nothing's more practical than a toyota.

You save a lot with a corolla...

Honda on the other hand is much faster, the acceleration is just awesome but you would hardly be using any of its extra power at any point in time during its ownership so its actually useless unless ur a fanboy...

That sums up. Get an entry level 1300cc Toyota corolla, add goodies that u might like to add.. Be happy! P.S. do fit a tracker!

Yes XLi does not have ABS, GLI does have it...

Putting better griping tyres is the best thing u can do to ur corolla just after getting its delivery..!
After getting some nice yokohamas or bridgestones you wont have to worry much about braking with or without ABS, however ABS is definately better at it.

Thanks a million sir, your comments helped alot, btw can you give me a rough estimate on the tyres, and can you also recommend some essential upgrades (both performance and visual, yea I ve been playing NFS a LOT :p) with a rough price estimate?

you might get the car in a weeks time or more..but be wise in color selection...

My first choice is wine red, then gun metalic then is silver and after that black. What do you recommend?

tyres i am planning to upgrade my gli soon for yoko advan db 205/65R15 is 9500 per tyre altough my eurostars are also good havent even touched the spare yet and 52000km and counting..add ons get some nice rims fog lights and if your into audio them get support and idea from audio guys here on pw....

not at all..Although i have seen very little red wine gli's on the road.

depends on peoples choice i see alot of light colours like white and silver due to easy cleaning and black so much..well it depends on time soon people will start buying this color also......

GLI limited is not worth the extra cash....you will get the door handles body match painted interior woden style like altis and a DVD player also which comes in altis...all cosmetic changes not worth the extra amount...in gli you will get a usb cd player and 4 speakers...

Gun Metallic, Silver and White colours are said to be colours IN the market (I may be wrong) so go for any of these. I bought GLi Gun Metallic in 2011 and sold it after 1 year and 18K on the odo for the same price I got it. Sold cause my brother had to go abroad for a year and left his XLi with me :).

Fortunately I own both cars; GLI April 2012 and City Aspire Oct 2012.
Both cars have their own pros and cons. In my personal view:

Power and acceleration : City
Top Speed : Both same (Both can be driven upto 190 km/s)
Fuel economy : City (far far better than corolla)
Interior : City
Overall Build : City (far far better than corolla)
Security : City (Corolla is the most stolen car in Pakistan)
Suspension : Corolla
Comfort : Corolla
Resale :Corolla
Trunk and cabin space : City
Sound system : City
Corolla's overall build is really crap, totally disappointing. Once you buy Rs. 1.7 million car it should have a radio atleast. U need to install a separate antenna to listen fm
City's build is much better. Suspension is lil hard but I found a solution for that. I changed the stock tires from Eurostar (175/65/R15) to Yokohama Advan DB (195/65/R15). It dramatically improved the ride and the drive is awesome now. I drove it till 190 kms, drives muuahh.

Corolla is far better car then city. The fuel economy totally depends to the way u drive Ur car.. And corolla and civic both cars have their radio attenna embeded into back glass so that why u don't see a separate antenna.

I have used both cars and liked them as well. City is a bit stiffer and uncomfortable than Gli.

Not lesser resale VALUE but will require more time for the resale IMHO.

Personally I love red wine color.. But if u are too much concern about resale then I say go for silver or medium silver.. Dark colors are difficult to maintain as compare to light colors. And also with time dark color loose it's grace if not maintain properly.
I had silver Gli. Kept it for 2 years drove almost 50k km. And sold it for 15 lac.
It's invoice price was 1426000. But it's only corolla which keeps it worth in Pakistan market.
