it happens too with my 86 corolla sometimes ago after rebuilding engine.my car had only petrol (no cng at all) problem was rpm wasnot stable(although only minor & if u press excelator it stops vibration so mech. told that look petrol is not going fully ) & thus gear was vibrating too much.
they did tuning, clean carb.
even after changing butterfly,problem not solved,

then they opened & set tappet adjustment, after that it was ok

& dont worry, opening cover for tappet doesnot harm

This cannot apply to his engine - your old corolla had rocker arms with screw adjustments his engine has bucket over valve which are filled with oil when the engine runs hence cannot be adjusted.

i went to 2 different mechanic today one was cng tunner and another one was petrol tunner apparently anyways i will state what both said and have
done to my car and i will leave the verdict on u .

the cng tunner told me its nothing just a cutti hue butterfly fault when i insist i would like to know what rpm meter showing as i dont have a rpm meter in my car he connected a manual rpm meter and showed me the variation of rpm my car is producing basically the rpm going from 1100 to 1400 and not getting stable hence the car vibrate aswell unless u increase the race manually , so he told me i should go and fixed the butterfly first and than he will do a computer tunning which i argued that if its the case what u are telling me rpm shouldnt be stable on petrol either but car is fine on petrol which he was unable to answer to i left him with this dilema .

now the petrol mechanic which i though that give me that butterfly excuse surprisingly he didnt mention butterfly atall and told me he will do the cng tunning which i agreed as i would like to see all verdicts now he have done a cng tunning and mixture setting and when he was satisfied he told me hes done i told him i will go and take a long drive which i had done and surprisingly car wasnt doing that shaking thing atall and i was ok with his tunning but when i come back and open the bonnet the engine wasnt that stable which it was used to be it might be my imagination so i called the mechanic back and tell him ride was perfect but i feel engine is not that stable he said sir i can make it stable but than i have to increase the race which isnt good so according to him if he increase the race that vibratory engine will get stable but it will bad for the milleage .

so that was my update i would like xulfiqar to comment on this all especially that vibrating part of engine which isnt feeling when driving the car but feeling when u open the bonnet .

vacuum leaks are a little amplified on CNG - and a variation of 300 rpm is called hunting. Go over all the leak points including the vacuum to the brake servo. And also go over the distributor to fully eliminate any possibility there.

can u please give me an idea what would be the setting of distributor for cultus ? so i can tell my mechanic to do that setting instead of his desi toksas .

check reluctor gap for the pulse generator - the vacuum advance bearing plate should move freely but with slight resistance only, the vacuum advance shoud snap back with spring tension not be soft to engage and return.

reluctor is the 3 pole thing in the middle of the distributor and the pickup for the 3 pointy thingie is called pulse generator

I dont know what they will call a reluctor, but I know they will call the pulse generator as CDI (I havent the faintest clue why though)

The centrifugal advance maybe known as mechanical advance and the vacuum advance is just known as vekum advance I think.

Many thanks for the valuable information u are truely a asset for pakwheels and u are just a kind of your own all stars for your help brother i will tell mechanic to check the whole distributor setting , i actually tell him that today aswell but all he said sir distributor is perfectly fine and i was like wtf how would u know with out checking it lol anyways lets see what he will say when i will tell him that again .

i went to 4 suzuki dealers & discuss same issue, all of them surprisingly told me same tappet setting, infact they told that there is no such concept of bucket over valve

they said same like corolla bcoz basic arch. func. of carby engine is same, whether corolla or suzuki, they said same if any person say that i cannot drive city steermatic because i learnt driving on mehran, driving mech. is always same, it is equipment difference otherwise theory behind is same

the 3 cyl cultus has bucket over valve tappets - also called lifters also called dabboo in Karachi I think. something like this

The 4 cyl cultus has screw adjustable tappets as it utlises rocker arms running from a camshaft like this.

If Suzuki told you that - run away from them as soon as you can, either you asked them a wrong question or they have ZERO idea what they are talking about.

& in the end, they told me fortunately we can show demo as that around 9 cars were there( 6 cultus, 1 mehran,1 alto) all had same this problem & they were fixing by tappet setting & really i saw in my front 3 cars got fix within 1 hour by mech. there by tappet setting,all were cultus & they showed on display screen as well as by manual added rpm meter that before & after & really it works, also it lessen noise

if the engine in question has rocker arms and screws, its adjustable, ofcourse

on the other hand, if it has bucket type valve lifters, it isnt adjustable per se, because the lifter doesnt have any screws or anything adjustable in them. Unless the suzuki guys call cleaning out the buckets and checking it all as adjustment, it cant be done. they can be replaced, but not adjusted.

and if suzuki guys keep BS-ing you, dont take our word for it, search for it yourself...."hydraulic lifters"
