congrats on a peaceful experience Khalid, but whats with the negative perception among the masses about Liana.. i see the production & sales figures, since couple of years they are hardly selling less than 100 units a month, why?

It has some advanced electronics that are very sensitive also (to water and local greases and mechanical works), and as it is a Pak Suzuki one, they are not placed very protected. Secondly every roadside mechanic cant handle LIANAs also. So people going for a Suzuki Saloon car wishing it to be a cheap in maintenance everywhere, curse their decision afterwards.
Also, Honda and Toyota status symbol is quite big enough for a Suzuki to compete. Check the latest car prices, its not a cheaply priced one.

Same model of car is also available (though now discontinued this year) in US and other parts of the world (under the name of LIANA as well as Aerio) so its not a technological aspect that this car suffers. Same model LIANA is built in Japan as well as in US as Suzuki Aerio, with similar specs.

But thats where it excels also. A 2008 model saloon car, available well under 700K due to bad resale, providing economy plus luxury. I dont think you will find other substitutes here

Ever thought why a Mitsubishi/Nissan is not delivering in PK, even having better pricing?
Personally I think Mitsubishi is more better than what City and an Xli delivers in this price tag. But again, its the trend of the market that they are not selling like Toyota and Honda.
Please note that the availability of parts is not an issue that much for this case. Its just a market trend. People buy Vitz for more than 1 million but will not buy a Lancer in 750K

i like what you say about liana ... .. yes its a very good car only if u know how to maintain it ..

i always like lancer and liana .. as they always sold in good price and well maintained .. but never get a chance to buy that machines.. however drove this lancer and found it better than city and gli ..

well said.. this is something which i have experience recently in a limited budget purchase.. there is more to choose than Toyota Suzuki & Honda.. and they offer good value for money too, its mainly about general perceptions and one's ability to make decisions. I believe if you explore these options, you will still be saving a huge amount of money since prices of new cars (Toyota, Suzuki & Honda) are constantly going out of reach....

Liana, is still produced in China with prices starting from 59,800 yuan (8.69 lac PKR).. and is there in sedan as well as hatchback form, available in 1.4 & 1.6 liter engines with 32 trim levels to choose from!

This is nothing different than other stories of Suzukis, they have the same thing all over the world in Saloon car. Its the consumer perception thats all that makes this trend.
And coming to resale, every car depreciates to 65% in the first five year, so there is not that much of a difference.
Its only here in this part of the world that we sell a Toyota even higher than the purchased price after 5 years Thanks to declining money value and constant rise in inflation

From the specs of the Aerio I meant the all other things in the car, they are all same as in US , only it has 2.3L engine (same tech DOHC with 16 valve). Infact we even get an ABS that they didn't have.

To me manufactured in Japan and US for 7 years with the same specs is not a bad deal at all You have all the right to reserve your point of view dost

Current honda city in Pakistan is the latest model(5th generation) which is there all over the world and it was released in international market in September 2008. Honda city is not sold in the Japan market.The model you are referring to is Honda Fit aria and it was discontinued in 2008 but it was not the new model but the old city model 4th generation(2002-2008) which is city IDSI shape in pakistan. When referring to life of model, i am talking about successful models which are there since decades like corolla, civic,Polo, accord, Golf, Beetle etc. Models which are a failure are not upgraded and found only in museums, that is why Liana was replaced with SX4.

Boss, from the specs I meant to say that the basic version there at US is the same we have here. In US, and worldwide, many versions are available with many upgraded features like ABS, Cruise control etc as additional things apart of basic setup.

Regarding the latest generation City model it is only available in low end markets like in India, Thailand, Pakistan etc. Its not in Europe not in US not even in Japan. Even the JDM version of the City before that was made in Thailand and imported to Japan according to their specs
Anything made in Japan and US and Europe, I always will rate higher than India and Thailand

Yes boss I again say that keh the City we are having here (5th gen) is not even in production in Japan No doubts.
Even the 4th Gen City (Aria) was produced in Thailand for a JDM, thats all I meant.

Anyways dost, give me a break plz I am no fond of doing multiple posts for clearing my points
