Curbing crime: Verification of vehicles now an SMS away

A couple of weeks ago, I was stopped at a check post and the police wrote something from my vehicle's registration book in his mobile and sent it to some number and in return got the details of my car. It wasn't stolen but he got some details...

i started it so that people should check the cars before buying, this way we can discourage the theft industry. if they will not be able to sell the stolen cars their effort will go waste. this theft mafia is active and can block it since they are in problem because of it.

The system should work with the chasis number of ANY Islamabad registered vehicle, stolen or not stolen, to be an effective centralized base. By this way, any prospective buyer could send an sms and receive the replies, either: "CLEAR", or "LISTED AS STOLEN VEHICLE"!

I've still not come to understand fully, what is meant in above posts, that the system is only for stolen vehicles??!!??!!

works for atolen vehicles means that it can tell the registration no and engine no of once you send the chasis no of a stolen vehicle. it will not send back the information regarding none stollen veh. more over its not only for islsmabad but for whole pakistan. there are 2.5 million veh across the country which are o stolen veh list since 1980, all have been added. thanks

just relax now your car cant be sold. if it will be checked and caught by police its status will change to recovered and you will get information whom to contact,

What will the sms reply be to me, if I send the chasis number of a non-stolen vehicle?? Will I receive a message that the vehicle is CLEAR!
