technically the mehran has NO bumper at all, the plastic part is actually a cover only. If you remove the cover of a civic or even a jdm chooha car you will see a rectangular piece of metal - that is the actual bumper.

In older cars the bumper was outside and were usually chrome, now they are inside a plastic show cover.

No 2000 model and before models have some rough kind of bumper I had one mehran 2000 model and one day a corolla guy hit me from back straight I don't know if he was drunk or what it was a huge jerk I thought my car is gone and there was not even a single scratch and corolla bumper was literally down on the road lol as it was his mistake he had to move without fighting and stuff

Speaking of quality, i remember i had an bad accident with a rickshaw,while taking a U turn a rickshaw tried to speed up and go before i turn, I had a Chevrolet Exclusive at that time,He hit my car fender with full force, the hit was so severe that the rickshaw almost turned over and had a huge dent on its front, my Car only got a dent on the fender which was dented and was good as new, If it was a mehran in that situation, the whole front would've suffered

chevrolet are GM, they are the laziest in the world, even lazier than suzuki, e.g. suzuki are using the same f8 engine since the mid 80s, chevy used engines since the early 70s straight into the mid 2000s

No new company can survive in Pakistan untill our Resale Minds Change, this is the first reason why cars get flopped here, Sadly we r the reason why new companies don't launch their Cars in Pakistan as the first thing we want is resale

Every Car needs time to settle here, Parts are not available because we dont buy these cars thinking ke parts kaise milen gaye, agr hum yeh gariyan khareeden gaye tabhi parts market mein ayein gaye, aur 1 mahiney pehle launch honey wali car ki resale kaise set ho gi.

buying a vehicle in Pakistan is capital investment means you should have enough resources to spare an amount to buy a car. The 'resale' mindset is result of such capital freezing & devaluation.

next comes the vehicle examination & testing part by a competent authority to ensure safety of user and other road users. Unless there are some safety standards put in place cars as old as 1963 morris minor will keep plying on the road with LESS tax bracket compared to 2014 Suzuki Wagon R. where as in rest of the world it is vice versa older the car gets higher the tax bracket to keep it road worthy.

last but not least the DFIs in our country are defying & cheating people in broad day light, the fine print at the rear of every leasing document makes life miserable every 3 months when a notice is received by leasee' charges revised under instructions of state bank. This criteria and scams / con tricks by legitimate DFIs is discouraging people & business houses and they stay away from leasing which is universally accepted fact for a vehicle ownership

This is a universal fact, anywhere in the world a publicily sold machine like a car has a solid standing of "service and spare parts" with full inventory access of parts and "knowledge base" - that is why companies like Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Honda, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, BMW, GM, Ford etc succeed.

in Pakistan the only 3 manufacturers who succeeded followed that exact principle, The rest who are selling chev, Nissan, Ssangyong etc sold a few cars and packed up their business - I call this "khaip maal" - Furthermore our lovely people still think that car repair and service is done by illiterate people who never went to school or even have a family background so they expect repairs to be Rs 2/- part and Rs 1/- labor and they can cuss them out later on - The immediate question asked is "yaar is to jugaad kardo bus 2 ghantey ke liye"

The above and what Capsat posted is a perfect bitter soup that makes car ownership a true horror in Pakistan. Sadly the ullu ke patthay customs duties and other stupid taxes are implied as if either Pakistan has the most amazing and truly standard defacto transport system. The duties are to force people not to buy any cars at all - Its there since the Raj because they implied that anything not made in Britain should be taxed heavily because Britain makes "everything" - they did at that time - Pakistan is now not part of British empire and our transport is worse than pig feces - There must be some other form of economic growth that has transport missing from its picture - which no-one on earth knows about - but its being followed in Pakistan.
