Simply Ask Him What He Did Dude.....Did He Also Change Head Or Not...? If He Swap Whole Block With Head...Then Its A D15B And For Sure It Will Have VTEC Since All Kabli D15's Are VTEC Ones.....!!Leaking Oil From Dizzy Side Or Any Hole....Dizzy Side Oil Leak Mostly Because Of O-Ring Inside Get Leak....Change It.....If From Any Other Place..Get It Inspected......!!

On Top Left...You Can See Solenoid... Just Lil Above Distributor......!Thats The Place For VTEC Solenoid...

This One Clearly Shows Where VTEC Is And How Its Connected And Looks Like..See On Top Left Of Head...There You Can See Solenoid Attached....!

So The Pics 2 and 3 You Posted Hides The Place Where VTEC Have Had to Be....So Check There For Any Hole And VTEC Solenoid Bolt Base To Know Whats It....

To Me...I Can't See Any VTEC Place For It.....!! Might Be Its Hidden Behind Pipes.....Check For It ...Manifold Is Also Of D16...From Your Old Engine.....So He Quiet Mess It Up....!!
Block Is Of JDM D15B But It Should Have VTEC Place On it...!!!

This is what a vtec head looks like and i have circled the place where vtec solenoid bolts.

Your head does not have this. If so its a non vtec head.

@611: Thanks bro. I believe that my head is missing the bracket, so its not a vtec engine. Now tell me what can i do to crank this engine up.
@all: CAn anyone suggest what would be the cheapest swap to a vtec engine, which can produce around 130-150 Horses. My mechanic said i wont get anything for my engine...max around 8-10k if lucky? Is that true or a load or crap?

D15B Complete Is For Like 45k Complete With Wiring ECU And All.......!!

Well You Have D16 ECU And Loom....I Believe Its Important Item......!! Can't Say About Block And Head.......!! Better Gave It In Replacement As You Getting The Good D15B......! No Use To Keep It........!!

In Case...You Can Use Your Wiring And ECU And Gearbox....!
Get Good D15B Assembly Complete With Head And All......!
I Am 90% This ECU Can Work.......On 3 Stage VTEC....It Get Changed....With D15b 2 Stage...It Can Work Fine I Think....!!

Getting Just Assembly Is Cheap Without Gear And Wiring ECU.......Give This Block Head And Get D15B VTEC one....!!

If Your Block Is All Good..Then Also You Can Get VTEC Head For It......!! Remove This One And Get VTEC Head On It....I Am Sure There Not So Diff Swapping VTEC Head On This Block....Since Its Also D15B....!That Can Also Works (y).....But In Case Block Is Perfectooo....... Else Its Useless....!

Make Sure 1st In All Cases.....This ECU Works With It......!! Else You Also Need ECU...But I Think Your OLD D16 Also Got VTEC So It Supports VTEC......

i advise u to take someone with you if u have not experienced such probs before, cuz mechanics can misguide you.

Yaar just change the head with a 3-stage vtec head.
The head alone should cost u 5-7k depending on the condition. and if u exchange it with your existing non vtec head it would cost you around 3-4 k then.

My Suggestion is to just exchange the head with a vtec head .

@611: Yar i have gotten it confirmed that this is a non-vtec head.
The mechanic told me that i can get a vtec head for about 8-10k. Also he said that my existing head would sent for jack.so its better if i keep it just in case...do you think thats a fact.
Furthermore, he also told me that the change in performance wont be that significant. So if there wont be much of a difference, why spend the extra 10-12k inclusive of the labor and gasket??

Yaar i think you should go to the market yourself.
In lahore the head would cost around 5-7k , it should be cheap in karachi. Also the non vtec head is waste for you so if you give it in exchange and get a befinite of 1500- 2000 i dont think its a bad idea.

It will definately perform better than non vtec. And also it will give good gas milage.

So go for it.

@611: Thanks for your help bhai. I will try to go myself. I actually got a niec offer from the mechanic, where he said he will throw on the vtec head on trial basis. If im satisfied i can pay else, shauk pura kar ke wapas. Only expense would be labor and gasket.

One more thing i want to ask is, that since the D16ecu i have is for a normal vtec. to get a 3 stage vtec would require extra wiring....would that be expensive? And hopefully the ecu will support??

Power output is the same for both.
