Some mechanic once told me to add a litre or two of PETROL to a full tank of diesel! He says the petrol will dissolve the filth in the fuel system. However I am not sure what the petrol will do in the engine

BAD ADVISE, always use high flash point cleaners (i.e. > 60C)............

I dont want to sound as if i were a liqui moly sales person, but as for the usage of diesel purge:
The contents of the can are directly fed into the diesel engine pump (after the fuel filter), and the fuel return lines are also brought back to the cans. Once the cans (or a VERY clean container containing the fluid) are empty, the fuel links are connected back as they were before...

Sir where exactly on Ferozepur Road. I have gotten my petrol engines' injectors cleaned by running on their stuff for thirty minutes in Pindi and it does seem to work!

Petrol may be used at low temperatures to reduce the cloud point of diesel.

The reason I said this was typical RD of petrol is 0.74 whereas diesel's is 0.84 so petrol, being lighter, will float esp. when for longer stationary period e.g overnight and it can be dangerous at low fuel tank levels.

Yes, it can bring down the cloud temp. as suggested by fellow member but diesel's pour point temp. is well below our normal min/max temp so you dont have to worry about it.

Where this is a problem of freezing and on higher altitudes of static charge buildup, usually additives are added.

As another member suggested about liqui moly, its seems, its a good product. I just checked its pour point and density, it will work well, effectiveness?................give us a feedback.

reading the informative discussion I think that cost is the main reason, especially when diesel prices are so high, and sales and resale of 2.0D is lowest ever in the history, I personally do not think that engine can ever see the light in Pakistan, the 1.4 D4D is even much better then the petrol 2nzfe let alone the ancient 2C in all grounds, power, torque, emissions, weight and fuel economy.

I have Toyota Vigo(2008) with D4D engine. 40000km driven. Allah humdulila never feel any problem with this engine.after every 15000km, i used toyota diesel injectors cleaners(from toyota motors). Beleive me its performance is much better then 2.7 0r 3.4 petrol engine.
It is recommended to use low sulphur diesel, but you should also be able to run on normal (500PPM) diesel as the low sulphur is not readily available.The safer option is fill up at a busy petrol pump, as this ensures a high turn-over of diesel in the mass storage tanks and you do get the advantage of the purging (constant dillution of impurities and reduced opportunities of growing algae).

Toyota indus also assembled Hilux with 2.5 D4D engines. D4D engine is for EURO3 standerd diesel.
i have 2006 model vigo. i am using fully synthetic 5w-40 SM/CF engine oil. Never feel any problem. before i was using 15w-40 dino oil, but it was too thic. in morning start i feel little knock like injector problem. but with new oil never feel problem. injectors are fine Allah humdolila.
About fuel, i search many sites/links and then i decide to mix 1/2 ltr 2-stroke oil in every 3rd full tank. 2 stroke oil help in burning and injector cleanings.

I have a question for Toyota hilux 2011 2kd engine. It has done around 150000k and the engine is still in good condition very slight blow by . Keeping in mind the sulphur quantity in the diesel fuel here in Pakistan are liqui moly additives recommended. If yes then which one?

1. Super diesel additive
2. Diesel purge
3. Common rail additive.
   Considering the mileage of the vehicle in mind which additive to be added which doesn’t damage the engine and deals with the sulphur content in the diesel and how often?
