Getting good mileage is only possible when your car's engine is tuned at the best. There is not much to do for a Daewoo Racer's engine, being electronic injected, just CO adjustment (~3.0v without air blockage), timing adjustment(~10 degree) and plug gaping (0.7mm). For a CNG driven vehicle intended to be driven on petrol, remove the air blockage from the intake so that the engine can breath properly, and ideally remove the CNG cylinder (you always have one extra passenger [cylinder] in your car all the time). If these things are followed correctly and you are still not getting good mileage on petrol, just check if there is any black smoke emitting from exhaust. If it is, you need to get the ECM scanned to properly diagnose the problem.

Another thing which plays important role in fuel efficiency is the engine compression, the better the compression the better the fuel efficiency. If you feel any blue/white smoke (not steam) from the exhaust, get the compression checked for any problem.

Thirdly, the quality of fuel also plays an important role. I usually get good mileage from Shell than any other company.

Lastly, you have to change your driving habits according to petrol. On CNG, we usually change the gears at bit higher RPMS, to compensate the torque loss on CNG. If you have tachometer in your car, change the gears at 2.5K rpms, if you don't have tachometer, change the gear at every 20km/hr speed (1-2: 20Km/h, 2-3: 40Km/h, 3-4: 60 Km/h, (if exist) 4-5: 80 Km/h).

BTW how much is the petrol average of your car? If it is anywhere above 11 Km, it is considered to be a good average.

thanks for detailed reply , Actually my fuel gauge is not working properly , on stable if fuel gauge is on half than on moving it goes little bit down. BWT what is the best method to check fuel consumption accurately? I have tachometer so i can make my driving habbit according to above mentioned gear shifting ratio.

Answers:
1-How to calculate the value of CO.
If you have multimeter, you can check the voltage across the engine earth and the center wire of the CO connector. If you don't have the multimeter, get it checked by your mechanic.


2-Plugs are in good condition , its 1.5 year old.
Get them checked for condition and gap by your mechanic.

3-Plug wires are in average condition as i am using them from last 5 years.
Get them checked for any degradation and replace them if required.

4-I will get it checked fuel lines properly by Mechanic for any leakage.

5-Almost 2 years or few month short.
It's better to replace the air filter now.

6-Shell super (Yellow Bottle) no knowledge about viscosity.
10W-40 is the recommended viscosity as per user manual. If you are using Shell super (yellow) [20w-50] for a long time, continue using it as switching back to lower viscosity can cause the engine to smoke.


7-Tyre pressure is almost 33-34
28-30 psi is recommended for better grip and braking and is friendly to suspension. BTW 33-34 psi will provide better fuel consumption, but harm the suspension in the long run.

Either run your car parallel to any of your friend's car and check the speed readings OR if you have some sort of GPS device you can match the speed at the device with the speed of your car though there will be minute deviation (~2-3km/h) between the two. The third option is to take your car to Khalid's workshop and attach the scanner to your car, you can match the speed readings between the two by lifting one of the front wheel and releasing clutch.

2-3 km is sort of negligible for me .. i can live with it, at least it gives me correct RPM..right?

What kind of noise you are talking about? Vibration, rattle, squeal?

Q1: Does the engine oil light stay a little longer (more than 1 sec) when you start your car?

If yes, the sound is coming from the hydraulic lashes in the head. The reasons may be (a) Engine Oil is too old, (b) Oil filter is clogged, (c) Oil pump is weak or (d) Oil pump suction pipe/grill is clogged. Get the problem checked at the earliest to avoid major engine surgery!

If no, the sound might be coming from the pistons and/or crank shaft during cold start. If that is the case, an overhaul is due.

Q2: If the sound is kind of squeal (a screeching sound)?

A: It is coming from one of the V belts in the engine bay, either AC belt or the Alternator belt.

Q3: If the sound is from vibrating object?

A: As there is more vibration during a cold starts, any minor loose part can produce the noise. Try locating the part and tighten it properly.

i discussed this loudy sound matter with mechanic .. according to him my car has the nissan generator instead of original one .. and it has an empty nut which need to be tighten .. he suggested to visit Sultan k koh.. to find it

Can you check which code has been stored in the ECM by using the technique mentioned in the top post?

i got petrol friendly timing adjustment from mechanic yesterday, he also removed the valve to allow entering more air into air filter way.. i came back home with no error showing on meter.. today when i started again the engine, the red engine LED lighten up again .. i reached office with this particular error on meter.

I will visit mechanic again to check CODE with EMC since he has the electric device with which he gets the exact code.

Gave Tahir my woo last week and finally getting it back tomorrow! Dad handed over the car to him and he told him (on a paper :p) roughly 16 things to do, major work included:

• Valve seal replacement - Tahir said after the replacement that that was the only work needed on engine, its healthy
• Gear box change to 5speed.
• Front/back bumper paint, last paint was done 2 years back so it needed a repaint.
• Doors adjustment.

Will post a detailed reply after getting the car tomorrow.

Btw I am also of the opinion that Saqib (Tahir's electrician) needs to improve his work. Anyways... someone today told my dad about another mechanic (named Nadeem) whose located near Koral chowk/Gulzar-e-Quaid, anyone has any experience with him?

Dear Bro I have experience of getting job from both technicans i.e. Saqib & Nadeem. dear Saqib is an expert electrician, nowadays he is not focusing his job due to that he is newly married otherwise he is good. as far as the Nadeem is concerned although he is a good mechanic but always in try to snatch every penny from the pocket of the customer.

I must say that Tahir and his team is so much expensive.. my personal experience too .. i have visited Fakeer and Moon .. they are better too and less expensive as compare to Tahir's team .. again this is just my personal opinion you guys might enjoy their services and charges but not me

(a) The car is takes long cranks to start on petrol until put the CNG/Petrol switch on nuetral position.
(b) After the starting the RPM goes abruptly high and comes down at normal after 4-5 seconds (I can't read the exact reading on RPM meter)
(c) After installation of thermostate for heaters, the needle of water temperature gauge goes up to quarter level of the gauge. is it normal? whereas the fan is direct.

Kindly comment on it

(b) It usually happens when the engine take long cranks as IAC valve after several cranks starts adjusting itself, assuming that the initial steps are not sufficient to attain an idle rpm.
(c) The thermostat valve is working just fine. The fan should also be reverted to auto.

I initially start visiting Tahir (G-8, Islamabad), but he is too far from my place (Tipu Road, Rawalpindi) and Tahir is also bit expensive. I have started visiting Moon (at Stadium Road, RWP), he is fine but still far from my place, moreover I have observered that Moon and his team always in hurry, not much satisfied.

(a) CNG is not in use since long due to prevailing situation. Moreover, this thing happens on every attempt of start on petrol, on CNG there was not any problem. Is there any possibility of "overflow the carburator"?

(c) I got installed the thermostate by Tahir's team. they intentionally keep the fan direct.
