The used Daewoo alloy rims are being sold at Rs.15000/= by the old parts dealers, offcourse without any warranty. I think it is too much for a cost of used one!

i am a big fan of daewoo and also impressed by your technical knowledege about it. we have this car for quite some time and have used it as suv (cause we dont have actual suv). a great solid car.
can you give your openion about installing power steering in it as i am told that conversion doesnt work well.

(y)....You are welcome here! The power steering assembly of Daewoo Cielo/Nexia/Espero are bolt on in the Daewoo Racer, worth Rs.10000/=, and works perfectly. The steering box is also to be replaced and the above cost includes it!

Yes, you are right, but they comes with Qabli tyres 185/65 R14, that are included in Rs.15000/=. I think if the tyres are in a good condition, it is a fair deal....

I have no personal experience with original alloys but you can install them & try them.(take the vehicle above 120km/hr and observe slight wobbling**which is normally almost unnoticable**between 100km/hr - 135km/hr).If no wobbling at all then the alloys are fine or they will ruin your tyroid ends and d-bush.
If perfect,then go for new Yokohama C-drive tyres 185/65R14 or second successor Dunlop P9000 or Dunlop Lm701

brakes are a bit of a weak spot

overall gr8 value for money

i have the corolla rims/ genral tyres on my daewoo the center hub had to be tooled by a mm or so
they r working ok i guess

no problems - a very cost effective solution

1- i want to install power steering in my daewoo but when asked about it form I-10 daewoo walas they said that they converted few to power steering but failed as the seals get leaked and they are hard to find. your car's steering hydraulic? if yes then hows your experience.

2- i am also planning to have it painted.still in yellow colour. have any idea howmuch it costs. their bumpers are difficult paint as i've seen most loose them after sometime.

3- lastly my car's headlights are not working properly. had it changed. bought those taiwanees one. original got rusted. but still blind at night. any idea what can be done, either change of blob will be effective?

can any body tell me how much will it cost me if i modify my daewoo in to celio... what i know they change the front and back lights, bumbers, trunk, bonit and they will do the color (not the whole car the parts which they will replace)... well can any body give me idea how much will it cost and ofcourse i wont be keeping the stuff which i will going to replace

A very nice post initiated for Daewoo fans and owners.

I have a Daewoo LXE 27. My father got it in Army scheme in 96. He gave it to me in 99. painted to Silver in 2001 and converted to CNG same year. So far 101600 Kms driven. My experience with this car has been great.
I am getting 150-170 Kms locally (60 Kg cylinder) where as 190-220 kms on highway, a reduction of 20 kms on all if using 90% AC.

Change the oil + filter every 3000 kms, change airfilter every 8000 kms. rest as and when required. first and only Timming belt changed at 70000 kms. VSS replaced once. front shocks on 100000, fuel pump once. Headlights got a little rusty so chromed them @ Fedral for 200 each. Battery changed twice. All original. nothing else changed even the AC gas is original.

Brakes were a bit problemetic but now I am used to. A few months back I changed the tires to 185/65 13 (stock rims) and braking has improved significantly. Its only that these get heated while traveling downhill, so any advice on improving the brakes would be appreciated.

Last time i paint my daewoo bcoz its color got faid and it cost me 10,000 it wont include the interior of the car well i guess they will going to charge you 15,000 including the interior....

like u said ur daewoo do 190-220 km in 60kg cylinder on highway... well mine do max 192km in 60kg cylinder (if the gasses persure is good) on highway with out ac... how did u adjust the cng from where are u filling up ur car cng

1. Actually it mainly depends upon the Qabli parts condition. If they are in good condition, they last long, and if it is the otherway around, you can always get another Power Steering pump for just Rs.2000-2500/=. I haven't installed one in mine, but my friend's car, and he is quite satisfied with it!

2. That's an old story about bumpers. Initially, the painters painted the bumpers just by roughing the surface and applying normal primer, but now they use another primer (that has some plastic sticking material)specially meant for bumpers. A good quality baked imported paint with good quality hardner [that paint is not going to faint: see my car's picture...It has 5 years old paint] costs around Rs.25~26K (both interior and exterior). The Central Automobile's job is great! (@classna has already visited him, he can tell you better about his experience with this guy)

3. Yes, change the bulb to H4 90/100 Watt, you will feel a great difference!

A rough estimate for Cielo conversion is :

1. 75-80K for exterior only consisting of the Bonnet, Diggi, Fenders, Front & Rear Bumpers, Lights (front and rear), modification of door lock handles.(dont go for a half cut, nose cut or back cut since these doesnot last longer and very often the joints become weak and your car is vulnerable to any mishap), denting + painting

2. Interior costs about 30-35K including the Dashboard, Meters console, seats and rear seat belts, Power Window assembly door panels)

3. Engine and all accessories costs about 35-40K including 5-Speed gear box, 1.5 DOHC 16V engine, ECM and wiring.

so your options are

1. 75-80K
2. 75-80K + 30-35K=105-115K
3. 105-115K + 40-45K= 145-160K

@ Hammed25 I get it adjusted from Kandan on 6 th road in satellite town. Last time I went there was I think 8 months back. I think it all depends on the adjustment of the distributor if you get it adjusted well you will be off with a great mileage and pickup. I can go to pir sohawa with full load on CNG.
make it a rule get your gas filled from company operated gas stations or somewhere you know are good. I go to PSO company operated in F-8, Kandan if in rawalpindi. one near my home in I-10 with computerised pumps is also good. its near Suzuki showroom.
