Ever since university started I've forgot that this thread even existed! Somewhere around mid of July, the engine was pretty much gone. I knew from the compression tests that the valve seats, headgasket and the piston oil rings were in bad shape. Me and my local mechanic decided to take on the overhaul project. We managed to find a complete gasket kit that was for a Daihatsu Hijet along with piston rings, complete valve seat set and surprisingly a timing chain kit!! The oil pump on the otherhand was reused even tho i did try to find a new one only to realize that the oil pump and timing cover is one piece so that would've been expensive... The bore's looked surprisingly fine, so we just re-ringed the pistons, put in the new timing chain along with the plastic tensioners which kind of shocked me... no wonder the timing chain rattled like crazy. The engine was put back together. We had to source new gaskets for the intake and exhaust which wasn't a problem. The catalytic converter was pretty much gone. After much sourcing i managed to find a good catalytic converter along with both pre and after 02 sensors. The radiator along with the heater core was replaced. The engine loom was also repaired properly. I managed to get rid of the old aftermarket alarm system and installed the oem one from a half cut. Got my headlights repaired too since the adjustment motor was removed. Oh and i almost forgot, i replaced all the engine and transmission mounts.
The engine ran surprisingly smooth now. It's really quiet on cold starts and no longer smelt like burnt fuel and oil from the exhaust. Fuel average went from 10-12 km/l to 18-19 which is a really good improvement. I still used 5w30 since i didn't went with a full overhaul.
In august I went to Rawalpindi for my university so my family back in Karachi sold the car before shifting here.
