yaar its a great car! 1 year se upar hogea, didnt give me any trouble! bus ajkal average achi nae arai, 13.8-15 tk krti hai because of heavy traffic in local with full time ac! not sure log heavy traffic main 17-18 kese achieve krte hain! iske ilawa ive had no issues yet

Assalam o Alaikum,
First let me admit that I'm complete novice / ignorant about automobiles. So please guide me out in couple of my queries even though they may look basic.
Car Model = Daihatsu Move (2010) (I'm quite sure that it is some Custom model but not sure about Custom R, Custom X version etc.)

Q1: I saw engine heat-up signal blinking a few days back. Took it to mechanic who said "gari bottle say pani wapis nahi lay rahi". I changed the radiator cap upon his recommendation. Then I took the car to another nearby mechanic just to check whether everything is ok or not? He said "koi maslaa nahi hai abhi tu. Gari pani poora kar rahi hai".
Can anyone tell what does this mean? Water is going back to radiator or not?

Q2. After the engine heat-up issue. I've also observed yesterday that when picking up speed, the gear shifting is abnormal. It is hard to describe for me but it felt as if car is finding it hard to smoothly shift from one gear to another. Also, D-indicator light on dashboard started blinking. What does this mean?

i guess to know if issue 1 is fine you would have to drive a bit, but not sure, an experienced mechanic should be able to tell better

2: could be that you need transmission oil changed? when was the last time it was changed?

1. I wanted to go on a ride to check engine heat warning sign, whether it appears again or not, but since I immediately observed the D-indicator blinking issue so came back home asap.
2. Transmission oil was last changed somewhere around 40,000 kms back. I don't know which brand was used since car was under my czn's use at that time.
3. I'm from Lahore.

Furthermore, regarding above point 2., I've been going through different discussions in Pakwheels forum and found out that Transmission Oil is definitely required to be changed now. Suggestions showed that Toyota CVTF-TC is the most compatible transmission fluid available in Pakistan for Daihatsu Move, Mira etc. Problem is most of those posts are quite old. so anyone can guide whether Toyota is the only best alternative or some new options are also available now?
P.S. Toyota CVTF-TC fluid pack is approx. Rs. 6000/-. That will ruin my monthly budget.

yes cvt should be changed after 40k
other alternates are available but best to use toyota cvt

Another small query is Toyota CVTF-TC is available in 4-Ltr packing. Again by going through different discussions, it SEEMS like Daihatsu Move needs 3-Ltrs of transmission fluid. If that is the case then what to do with remaining 1-Ltr?
Throw it away or shelf it (I doubt it has long shelf life though) ?

some shops take back what is not used, some dont

1. I've come to know that when replacing transmission oil in Move, it is better to remove the chamber and clean some filter inside too. Did you went through the same procedure?
2. I live in PIA society near Wapda Town Round About and there is a Makki Oil here too. So I will check with them whether they take back the un-used oil or not. But by returning, will they compensate the equivalent amount of money or not?

1: no i did not. as i did timely change and oil was in good condition too. Also opening and resealing chamber is a task for some expert mechanic

2: that makki oil is same as faisal town one, they should take remaining back but you can always call and confirm

I have also Move but my model is 2013.
70,000 done! and I want to change its CVT oil.
one day I took my car to the oil shop for its regular maintenance and I asked the machenic to also check its CVT oil.After checking the CVT oil,he said«that the oil is looking fresh,so it does not need to be changed».
My Question is that should I rely on the mechanic or not and which CVT oil is recommended for my car ?

i also had move 2013 model
mine had a dipstick near radiator pipe in engine bay via which you could check oil color and quantity

but after driving for 40k mine was still pink and looked fresh
best to change it if you dont know history of car
better safe then sorry mate
