Sir, indeed very true.

But not every day is a quarter mile (as per your signature :)). You cant just keep the engine screaming for that push-in-the-seat feel.
Sometimes, a little low end torque makes the day beautiful.

the F&F quarter mile thing feel is special when done after a time .. if ur habitual at it , it wont give u any satisfaction after some time

i usually rev up the engine (city iVTEC) upto 3k-3.2k in 2nd gear and the same for 3rd , gives a good acceleration if i want to achieve a speed of 70+ -- if im stable at 50 , i put it in 4th or in 5th at 70--- ,
but as u said the rpm band of 1.2-2.5k doesnt give any power , rev it a bit high - it wont effect fuel eco nor will it harm the engine as yr car will achieve the desired speed in less time as compared with changing gears at 2.5k rpm,, and if u change gears at 2.5k rpm , ull have yr 5th gear at 70 , and with 5th gear u simply cant accelerate from 70 to 100km/h!

and then comes the 10sec part , which gives me goosebumps .. it just keeps on eating the letters of speedo'meter until it reaches 160km/h... its quite close to what civic 1.8L is able to produce till that speed...

Sir, I totally get your point. Actually mine is an auto varient. So one does not have an option to time the gear shifts. Plus there are other variables as well.

In a manual, you have a direct coupling via clutch (between engine and transmission), one can tell easily when the engine is pulling and when not.

In an auto, the coupling is initially hydraulic and then locked to engine. Its not easy to define whether the lag somehwere is because the lock-up isn't engaged, VTEC isnt engaged or because engine isn't pulling hard enough.

by the looks of your first post , it seemed that u were talking about a manual one , the way u elaborated the rmp ranges and gear combos ....

i have a city'09 auto in my family .. it is not a good car .. i wont recommend it to anyone .. and it is true that it is not responsive too
there is something wrong with the transmittion.. even if i rev the engine to 4000rpm , i dnt get that thrill and response as i get from my manual
have u ever driven a manual one?? drive it and u will feel an immense difference...

and there's another issue too ... if u're at speed 45 and want to accelerate in 3rd , a little bit press on the throttle will downshift to 2nd gear .. am im like WHY ARE U DOING THIS!!!! I WANT A 3RD GEAR HERE.. .however , there is no such problem in civic 1.8L PT

Yes. You have almost understood the issue. That instead of taking ahead in the same gear, there is downshift.

However, your case is better as the transmission is responding actively.

In my case, the problem lies in 4th or 5th gear. What should have been an early downshift or a increased engine pull, there is considerable delay. And all of a sudden, the downshift and quite a high increase as the pedal had already been pressed considerably.

Anyways, I am trying to work around the situation (experimenting). I have even driven it on complete high octane for a tank. The response gets smooth. However, when compared to a smooth shifting of a Corolla G, this one is very jerky.

i dont know about 4th and 5th gear ... the delay u're talking about is the main prob , thats why we dont get a response , feels like something is holding the engine to rev up
- lets say at speed 35 and a light foot on the throttle , easy acceleration intended to reach 60 .. press throttle by a few mm .. it will accelerate from 35 to 40 in 3rd , then BANG !! HERE COMES 2nd U MORON.. driver : AAA U LITTLE (homer simpson style) there is definitely a faulty transmission

but they hv changed it from simple A/T to PT , or is it just a change of sticker? any difference in drive ?

No wonder generally people say prosmatec city is sluggish and slow its actually the transmission.

Corolla axio G is a cvt I believe which is altogether different.

Thing is with out traffic conditions and city conditions one does need torque at low rpms seldom does one reach 4k rpm.

Technolgy is bringing in itself a lot of complications in cars!

its just a change in sticker as confirmed by Honda 3S.

Corolla G is automatic. Its different from Corolla Axio which is CVT.
