Salute to Pak army!
People tend to forget how much pain and sacrifice each soldier of the army goes thru during his lifetime serving for the army. The numerous postings at places where it is difficult to live, the marooned places deprived of any human being within miles, the hardships in the torcherous weather conditions and the 'ragra' gone thru in their job day in and day out, not to mention the wars and the threat of death message to their families each day they are out of their home. 'Alpha Bravo Charlie' was a good drama serial which showed some glimpses of that.
Thats why I find it completely disturbing when an ignorant useless person who has not done anything for the country says something like that the army role is to do 'chokidari' not to throw a political leader and become president himself.
Just because a leader is a politician, that SHUD not be the criteria for serving at the position. Look at the current president.... does he has any clue how to run the state? how much is his education, knowledge, capabilities, about how to run a country properly and how to administer it? Chances are that he may not even know the spelling of 'economy'.
Politicians are not divine souls who have been brought to this earth to become automatic leaders and their families get rich and rich. a leader should have the following qualities:
i) honest
ii) loyal with the country
iii) have the will to work for the country betterment
iv) Non-corrupt
v) Man of his words
vi) Literate and knowledgable about everything
vii) Intellect to successfully lead in front of the world
People who criticize leaders like Musharaf saying that he was 'undemocratic' and should not be the president; are they satisfied with current president and Mr. Shareef as the men to lead the country? Just because they are politicians while the former is an army man?
Or have they ever thought about comparing an army man with the politicians on the 7 qualities I argued a leader should possess? An army man who has served his country for decades and in many wars, putting his life on the risk would not have higher love for the country than a politician who give a damn about the country, lived their lives abroad, have all the money saved in foreign banks and who only lie again and again just to get votes and be-fool the public time and again.
The Islamic history and even the western history would tell that great leaders and stateman the world has seen were chief of armed forces, not politicians who did nothing all their lives.
Sorry for being political, but just pointed out a disturbing comment people often make that only a politician deserves to be leader of Pak...
