I recently purchased a Grande because it seemed ridiculous to pay own (or whatever) on an Altis 1.6 or wait for 3-4 months, so I thought I had to pay extra any how so why not go for the best and I guess it was a good decision.

However, a friend of mine booked an Altis 1.6 about the same time I did last Oct in the hope of getting delivery in Feb, 2016. Now he has been informed by the dealer that Indus has suffered some production issues and all orders have been cancelled and he will be receiving his car after a delay of another 3-4 months, up-side he says is that there will be COSMETIC CHANGES probably to counter the new CIVIC.

Has anyone else encountered such an argument from the dealers? I'm sure other pakwheelers must be in a similar situation too, we are looking for answers, please.

My friend, what you have observed is true. I booked an Altis 1.6 last year and got it within 24 days. A few weeks ago, while collecting the documents of my car, the dealer told me the very same Altis 1.6 was available on 4-5 month booking then, same as GLI Manual, where as 1.8 variants were available within one month. If there were production issues, IMC should have also dragged delivery period of 1.8 variants as well, which isn't the case. So, to me, it seems a ploy to sell as much 1.8 variants as possible before the launch of Civic X, Just my two cents.

It just means that the demand for 1.6 is higher than 1.8

Anybody who booked Grande in KHI in the month of Jan'16?

That is also possible sir but I don't get one thing: Why are potential customers, who are given PBO for a specific month against 1.3 and 1.6 variants are being rung up by dealerships later, stating that their tentative delivery periods have been dragged further by 1-2 months, because of some unknown production issues, while for 1.8 variants, they are giving delivery within one month as committed? Don't they anticipate the demand-supply situation before issuing PBO for 1.3 and 1.6 variants? Many respected members have received such calls from IMC.

A relative booked 1.3 GLi AT on 17 Feb he got sms from Toyota that the vehicle will be delivered in April. Even if it comes on the last date of the month then it is total 2.5 month wait at max.

I believe the reason Indus can afford to play with the 1.3 and 1.6 is because City sales are completely shot to hell, which may also mean that we cannot expect the City in 2016 even.

So seems like Indus has more than ample time to introduce a face lift, capture any remnants of deluded customers waiting on the new Civic and pretty much do what ever the hell it feels like in 2016, will Honda ever recover from this ??

Rumour is that they are making certain cosmetic changes and maybe introducing an immobilizer in Grande version only hence the delivery times have been pushed.

probably insider dealings by the dealerships...they are giving the cars to people who are paying own...also can be a tactic to push the buyer to pay own to get the vehicle early...the face lift is the most obnoxious reason they have given since such facelifts apply to bookings after the official release not for older booking where only the delivery is pending.

That is what the Toyota Rahim Yar Khan dealership is saying at least delaying my friends Altis 1.6 by 3-months.

ON money for 1.6 varies, but is around 100-130K if a 0 meter car is available in ready stock.

I was lucky that I got a 0 meter Altis 1.6 A/T in a week as it was readily available at a showroom and I dealt with the car owner directly, which infuriated the dealership, but I avoided paying the ON and got the car.
