But avoid the non-Pro glory 1.5 turbo.

Only get the Pro.

And visit the showroom to see it. It is MUCHHHH bigger and roomy and comforty than a brv.

turbo engines are generally built more sturdy than their NA counterparts to cater for the increased tempratures inside the cyliner. most of the times a good intercooler is what increases the performance and life of the engine.
Glory's achilies heel would be the CVT in my opinion, you should test drive the car and maybe test drive it with family so you know the weight to power in it. Also you should test the alpha in this range. If not for the removal of VSC in alpha it would have been the best car in this range.

I am lost as to why the engine is again reported to have excessive turbo lag and no performance on inclines, even with this transmission!

That is the NON PRO 1.5.

It seems to have major issues .

What I don't understand is that one would think that the problem would be in cvt / auto transmission.

once you have a manual then these problems should be finished. Are people saying that even manual has problems ? if so then the problem is in the engine and not in the gear , if you are talking about manual.

And if the manual has problems then definitely the auto will also have increased problems.

So this is now confirmed that Glory 580 manual and auto (1.5) both have engine problems (but not gear problems).

The 1.8 engine is weak so one must think twice before purchasing it.

Haven't heard any issues in manual transmission.
Even in glory 1.8. Once you shift to manual (triptonic) the climbing issue is resolved.

Well i think i will wait changing my brv to glory until some sort of reviews come on the market , specially of car climbing in northern areas especially in stop and go traffic as this sometimes happens in the vacations season that roads at any point may be blocked and you have to inch forward.

happened with me in start August 4 years back , i was returning from Naran and going to Murree and very near murree there was a jam of cars at a turning, and all cars were inching forward . I reached murree at 6 pm and actually entered Murree at 9:30 pm

However I saw glory in Mall road lahore and it has presence definitely and looks big

Hope they solve this problem soon and issue some sort of statement in this matter

Yes, if you keep your car in tiptronic and 'snow' mode, you wont feel the issue. I believe there is a video on YouTube that shows this.. hut bear in mind such a high torque on your CVT repeatedly will reduce its life quite significantly. As a minimum you should be changing transmission oil before every such trip

I would be more concerned about parts availability if planning a trip to northern areas. An 86 land cruiser will have no probs sourcing parts, even as far as skardu... but ofcourse cant say the same for glory. I think it's more about driving in semi rural areas where a dealership is not more than 100kms away just in case, like villages near pindi Islamabad etc

No engine sound, no show of the engine rev counter. And labelling it effortless. Hi-roof with 10 people on CNG will do it does it make effortless.

Taking it to Monal isn’t a big deal the thing is that can it handle the northern areas climbs as a 660cc can even go till monal even with full occupancy

In this video, not once did they show the vehicle stop on an incline and then start climbing. This is the reported issue with the car and also a test of the CVT.

This video should not have been under the Pakwheels banner!

No that's not the case. Monal climb is tough nevertheless all other points raised are valid, a performance test should have been done
