Dongfeng group owns a major stake in PSA Peugeot Europe.

Additionally, in China Honda, Renault, Citroen are actually Dongfeng Honda, Dongfeng Renault, Dongfeng Nissan etc.

Funny enough there is also a Dongfeng Kia 🤣

Also I am pretty sure this new alpha variant from sportage has been precisely launched to counter Glory

Anyways these were my 2 cents.

Well the members on this forum AND Specifically in this thread represents maybe less than 0.5% of the buyers out there in market. Chinese, Korean, Japanese , Malaysian or whatever. Sportage, Tucson, Glory and upcoming X70 including a possible Corolla Cross are and will be options to buyers.

The actual buyer on the showroom floor will decide which is better what he can afford and what he feels like better with respect to his budget and preference. Keyboard fighters here on this forum will not decide. Let the market and sales statistics decide who is the winner. Lets wait and we can discuss it further.

In the posts above a member shared an infrographic showing top manufacturers. Whatever your opinion about Peugeot is the above graph still shows it among the top manufacturer. I think in your or some members' comment above they were asking why dfsk is not in the list, I only found it fitting to enlighten about Dongfeng's vast network where it shares ownership of Peugeot group as well. But unfortunately while pointing out Peugeot's poor quality you overlooked Dongfeng's partnership with Honda, Nissan, Kia & others.

fazalwahab made a valid point above about letting the buyers on the showroom floor decide. The point is I made an investment and I'm so far happy with my purchase. I'll myself pass a damning verdict should it not fulfill my expectations as time passes by.

I've been a silent spectator on PakWheels for a very long time, often reading up your advice on various technical topics but I differ in opinion with you over this issue. Don't you think if we only keep on buying the same proven designs we will never encourage much needed competition in this cartelized Pakistani auto market. As a consequence companies like Honda will keep getting away for not updating their decade old model, Toyota and others will continue treating airbags like luxury.. Only true competition will force these behemoths to change as well.

the Pakistani car industry is literally pin sized microscopic and there were other brands from Japan too which packed up and left due to either political issues or absolutely useless support (Nissan and Mitsubishi passenger cars)

competition is a good thing, but if you consider this as competition to the offerings currently available, I can just sit and laugh - again, your money your choice.

and please - get your scales correct, IMC, PS and AHMCL are not behemoths, If they are - I wonder what you would say if you ever saw Volkswagenwerke in person.

Interestingly for more than half a decade I was in the Netherlands. My elec engr study had a special emphasis on engines & turbines but I definitely don't have your depth of automotive knowledge. Though I had the opportunity of working at Philips, visiting Bosch, Rolls Royce & others in neighboring Germany and of course DAF in NL which is very famous for their trucks throughout Europe. I've also been fortunate enough to visit Japan where I learnt about their copycat culture after the war believe me Chinese are exactly on the same trajectory. So, it's basically the history repeating itself. Only a matter of time before Chinese takeover the market with their offerings just like the Japanese.

I completely understand what you mean by puny size of Pakistani Auto industry but then again it is our reality. I think we should be realistic because after all We are a poor country and for us this even seems like a large industry. We don't have a lot of choices. But as our gdp grows this same industry will pick up pace too I hope as demand rises. After having owned multiple generations of Toyota and Honda I for one would like to see new entrants in the market. There are tradeoffs every where, no car is perfect.

As for roof leakage, minor issues exist everywhere even in high end cars. I was watching a Mclaren GT review and the reviewer was annoyed by plastic rattle sound coming from the interior. Its a $200,000 car.

I am a sportage user and believe its a value for money. I am glad to see the Face-lift version of Glory; its full of options with attractive exterior and interior. Wishing all the ones who plan to buy Glory very best!! At the end of the day, its good for our auto industry that new players are showing up, will definitely help improve the overall standards!

We should never forget that customer is very intelligent. He will buy the one that's best suited for him and offers him the real value (as explained by FazalWahab above).
