Dhangali: Exotic place in the vicinity of Rawalpindi where River Jehlum turns Emerald

We were group of 8 people. So on a warm day 02-oct-2011 we left for Dhangali. Since friends have to converge from different places of pindi/islamabad we got a bit late to meet together and start journey. So here we go with Santro & Mehran laden with 4 enthusiast each, having 4 cameras. Interestingly cameras are good but none of us has any prior background of photography so due to sharp sunlight some of the picture are not as good as the scene was in real.

Here comes one of the turns, from where on right side you can get first sight of emerald lakes.

i have been to this place last year,that time the bridge was still under construction...but really a worth seeing place!weather shud be good though!

There was an open place on right side of the which you can say a ridge. There was a graveyard there on that ridge and a plane (both on right side of the road) . We parked our cars there and just in front of us was this beautiful view.

Most of the images were 2816x1584 so i have to compromise them to make 800x.. as advised in the instructions

We tried to find way to get down there close to water. The ridge was very steep and most of the places only goats can travel

3 of us were given the task to place an order for "fried-fish" in the nearby fish shop (that we have already visited last week). While the others find a path generated by flow of water along the sides of ridge. That was the only possible path to tread.

The rock formation was strange. It was awfully deceptive. The whole ridge seems to have rocky boulders, they look strong on looks but were sandy and when groped tightly can be smeared. Thus it was dangerous to tread on that rocky path.

While we were ordering fish the other group after treading these slippery & dangerous slopes reached one bank have a photoshoot and then decided to do some rock climbing

Pllzz Share some More pic's of this place n tell us which months r more feasible to visit this place...

I think if you have good monsoon, then September to 1st week of oct is good time when this whole location will turn emerald. Otherwise in rainy seasons, Jehlum is muddy and won't be such beautiful
Also if you have fish rod. I think this is the best place for fish hunting. You can catch a 3-4 kg size fish here easily

Teeter & Batair can be found on both side of villages of Kallar Road, since they come at the season of crops. "Kanak" / Wheat crop season draws abundant "teeter & batairs"

Good Morning,

Lets start from where we have left. We have left (3 of us) to place order for fish. So here we go at roadside fish shop.

I was given the responsibility to select the best & fresh fish. You can be easily decieved, though there weren't farm fish but there you may get "Basi" fish, as the shopkeepers have freezers. Since i had made contact with the shop owner last week, so atleast the pieces we got were not "Basi"

Still, fish were quite big, not to my liking. They were at least 1.25 kg each. I selected "Rahu" & "China Mahasher" 6.5 kgs total for lunch of 8 "mustandas". They protested its more than enough (but left not a single piece when we got back from stiff rock climbing expedition.

The whole exercise of going to shop by foot, selecting fish & placing order and getting back to the ridge, cost us 45 mins. While we started getting down to water, we can't locate from that ridge; from where they have moved down.

Confused! we started getting down from near to impossible path which after 10-15 meters was almost vertical. Since the rock formation is sandy, one cannot put enough weight on feet. Also nothing to grip with hand here

They were yelling; to warn us about this dangerous track. If you look at the previous picture, the path was around the top left side of the ridge in the picture. It curls from behind and comes in front, the half way of ridge. So we were on all 4 (4 wheelers) in order to survive and get hold on to something.

Even in those positions; we manage to take shots. You can see the tricky slope beneath our feet till bank of lake.
