Xulfiqar bhai...i have a 2C Swapped MarkII which starts good in the mornings. However, during these summers, whenever I take it out for a short drive and park it again, it would'nt start at all. Battery seems to be fine. I now drive it rarely though and I am relying on water inside the radiator instead of a coolant.
Anyways, dhakkay p start ho jati hai but also if parked for a couple of hours it starts again.
Also, a local mechanic told me to get the car serviced and clean the radiator with the water hose. I did that and the car instantly started after a long drive. Is there a possibility that the engine heats up (The needle stays low and gari salf marti hai even when not starting)? or is it an issue with the battery?

its the same as petrol engines but in diesel you dont need an air compressor - once the piston is at TDC you can undo the valve keepers - the valve faces will then rest on top of the pistons and you can pull the valve seals out and install new ones.

No one can do here in pakistan even for petrol engines.

they are not mechanics then, I would suggest them to leave this business and sell their tools.

when the valves keepers are let go on an IDI diesel with the piston at TDC the valves rest on the pistons - you then pull the seal and replace it, All you need is to make a crane type setup that mounts on the cam journals and an old socket or piece of pipe with a window cut into it to reach the valve keepers (collets) - once the crane is released after assembly the valves keepers will lock to the hat and stem.

It only requires you to buy or fabricate the valve depression tool

with a petrol engine you need to pressurize the combustion chamber to prevent them from moving too far in - the space between the valve face and piston on a diesel is tiny and only a few mm - the space in a petrol engine combustion chamber is very large compared to diesel.

I just purchased a 2.0D Saloon 2003. As soon as I got hold of this car I went to the mechanic for tappet adjustment. However, another surprise awaited me. When he opened the tappet cover and removed the shims it was found out that the channel which brings oil to tappet cover was dry, means no oil was lifted from oil pump to the tappet region. Secondly the tappets were tight but there were pieces of x-ray films cut in the shape of shims and placed underneath the shims. As soon as these were removed the valve clearance was normal.
To fix the former problem, head had to be removed and a very small amount of silicone was found sticking in the channel which was probably a spread of silicone applied during some work done by the previous owner. However, the performance was improved but two problems still persist

1. the cold start device is fixed in the hot position so the rpm does not advance on cold start

2. there was a small leakage of oil from some place near the chamber (very small- approx 2-3 drops in a day). When checked it was found to be because of leak from oil pump seal.

3. Starting in the morning requires 2 heaters, means twice time to heaters. When hot the starting takes one heater but does not start easily without heater.

Now the mechanic says

1. Don't worry for the Cold start device, let it be like this.

2. Changing the oil pump seal would require removing half of the engine from below so leave it as such.

Diesel injection pump test bench.

You mount the pump on the drive system, align it to the specified start point of injection, assemble the nozzles in the tray above, run the pump and measure fuel volume output - you can test the fuel aneroid device which increases fuel volume under turbo boost.

It is a very finely calibrated instrument and requires to be kept in a controlled environment - not in dust and uncontrolled temperature like the deezal sarviss ustaad shops.

I recently bought a toyota prado 2003 3.0L diesel. I am new person to diesel engine and I am caught up in the engine oil eat problem, i bought it from LHR got its oil changed, oil filter and diesel filter changed from a authentic oil shop in DHA and drove it back to Multan.
I got it's timing belt changed from Multan as I was told by friends and others about the maintenance of diesel engine, after that I happen to drove it back to LHR for some work stuff and on the way back it showed engine oil light on, I ignored it for 10 15 km and then eventually pulled over and took the dip stick out and there was no oil at all. the engine is starting up good, giving decent mileage, no back smoke, while getting new oil inside it the oil change person told me by opening the cap of the oil that is giving blow and your engine is giving a blow.

I went to Toyota and told them the whole scenario, the foreman without even checking anything suggested me for a engine overhaul as my engine is finished by now... the car is clean and doesn't seem to have done more than 150k. I was in a mere shock when he told me 350k just for engine overhaul, I drove it back home and it again eat about 2 liter of oil in 700km.

I need your sincere advise on this please.

if you ran the engine on low oil there is a very high chance that your engine crank etc is scratched up. Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to check that, for oil consumption but 2 litres per 700 kms is terrible, If that much oil is being fed past the piston rings your engine WILL run away on its lubricating oil and have uncontrolled rpm till it self destructs.

It maybe sloppy valve guides or the oil you put in was not suitable for your engine.

Sir, where should I start from ? I am sure the OIL I used was good quality. Do I need a engine overhaul ? or Engine swap ? every around here are idiots, all they is engine needs to be overhauled without even checking a bit of it.
