Diesel Injectors Cleaning

please suggest me whether I should go for this adjustment of tappets/ valves. The problem is very little and the engine vibrates only for few seconds in cold weather only.

the diesel nozzles dont require cleaning, they themselves wear out and spray bad. the tips can be changed out and the injectors tested, shimmed and balanced back to factory spray pressure. The spray pattern should be a very tight cone when the injector is made to spray in short strokes, it should make a loud creaking sound when doing so.

You should do a liqui moly diesel purge to your engine, its done by feeding neat or half LM half diesel to the injection pump directly. Be sure that the return line is also going back to the bottle of the LM or mixture you are feeding.

I would suggest you to first check the valve clearances, it also contributes greatly to black smoke as the air charge in the cylinders is reduced. Less air more fuel = black smoke. Black smoke is also due to advanced timing - your engine will also be very clattery if it is.

The whole assembly is called injector, the tip is also called nozzle or atomizer. Its a small metal piece and comes in little plastic containers, when they are assembled in the injector - the technician should wash them in petrol and ether and handle them with gloved hands only in a closed room with no dust at all. They should also use lint free wipers to clean items.

Use a screwdriver to rotate the arm, its pretty self explanatory - the arm has a U shape where a philips head (+) screwdriver shaft fits, once in, rotate it.

I have 2.0d saloon 2007 2C with 49000 on meter. The issue i am facing is in morning when i start car it produce heavy white smoke and after engine is warmed up no smoke but on acceleration it produces black smoke. Also car`s fuel economy is pretty low like 9-11km/l in Karachi. Today i have gone to Garden on someones advice and mechanic there was saying it does not required nozzle or atomize or pump service but my engine is weak and producing lot of back pressure . So plz sir a little advice and a guide would be highly appreciated thank you.

lots of white smoke on startup usually is retarded timing at the pump, and the white you see is unburnt fuel (try smelling it) - you should also verify the valve tappet clearances are correct - too tight also causes this in very cold weather.

How did the mechanic determine the engine is bust? blowby is a measure of some sort but its measured at 1500 rpm. Every engine has some blowby in normal service. Its the air under the pistons that has to move somewhere, This is then sucked in by the intake manifold.

the mechanic took the pvc pipe which comes from top and also where intake is and showed me smoke and oil leak and told me engine is weak and he cant do much. He said if he try to adjust any injector or pump i will have issues later and told me to go have tappet set i dont know any mechanic in Karachi so a little help would be appreciate. i want know the perfect method for timing the
diesel pump of my engine and if i want to fit an automatic transmission in my car
what type of transmission will fit on Toyota 2c and what should i tell the shershah guys
for the transmission name or model etc.
and i made a dial gauge adapter for my pump and had tested it but i want to know the precise
info for the job

Now for timing the pump,

steps
1 - undo timing cover
2 - remove or loosen high pressure pipes from pump (so it can rotate easily)
3 - rotate engine so you are exactly at TDC1 (check mark on crank pulley aligning to timing cover
4 - verify the camshaft timing mark aligns
5 - verify pump timing mark aligns then loosen the pump mounting bolts.
6 - insert screwdriver into pump cold start device and lock/hold it in hot/released condition (default is advance - rotated is normal)
7 - remove bolt and insert adapter, pin and gauge into the high pressure head in the pump (preload the gauge about 2mm)
8 - rotate engine backwards very slowly till the gauge needle stops
9 - rotate the gauge face to zero
10 - rotate the engine clockwise till the engine timing marks line up
11 - read the gauge face - it should be 0.85 or 0.90mm - if not then rotate the pump gently to get it correct.
12 - tighten pump and make sure the gauge does not move when you tighten it - redo the procedure if the reading is messed up while tightening the pump.
13 - remove tool and install the bolt

install high pressure pipes, keeping them loose at the injector body - try to start the engine, wait till fuel dribbles out the pipes at the injectors then tighten the nuts.

Install belt cover, do a general checkup and start the engine.

I happen to notice very slight white smoke on cold start for about 30 seconds to a minute when I started my engine at 0600H this morning, does the drop in temperature a factor? it was about 16deg C. this morning..
