i have two cars. corolla 1982. no thermostate(rear WHeel Drive)
Baleno 2000 . no thermostat with directed fan...

my corolla never reaches half point. it remains at 40% of the gauge..with ac

but baleno reaches half point very soon, even with direct fan...on AC
i have heard and checked with the authorised suzuki dealer at multan road...that there is some computer fault in the baleno infact all balenos (correct me if im wrong baleno drivers). its temperature gauge never rises above 50%... i had a bet with one of their mechanics. he simply switched off the fan(radiator wala) and pressed the accelerator hard for tow minutes... but the temp remained same...he was ashamed and gave silly excuses that the sensor ya needle farigh ho gayee hai. but at the same time there electrician said that they both are working fine.....
????? now im confused

i dont know k after half way car ka temp 50% hai yaa above 50%. the needle never shows the real temp after half way...
so i have to keep the needle below 50% so as to obtaine the correct temp indication...

agar thermostat lagwaon ga to fauran half pe ajai gi.. and will create alot of risk??
help me??????

thanx 4 consulting first immediately install thermostat valve in ur cars it is essential 4 ur cars and then expereince the results ur corolla has no thermostat valve but i guess it has automatic fan switch (no direct fan) so the guage remains in 40 % that is good but u say
for baleno u should check its cooling system first and u should use automatic switch regardless the risk it a problem in old cars do consult ur problem with xpereince electritians dont go to dealers
i know they lack good mechnics and makes false excuses to conceal there faults
go to any good mechanic other then dealer and grt ur car checked there but use thermostat vave and automatic switch i m givig u 1000000000000 trillion dollar worth advice dont b panic

i will try to find out ways to eradicate ur problem
first go 4...............................................

meri gari ki mileage is waqt 197k hai aur 189 pe engine bana tha (overhaul)
i have got 1 nali radiator.. inshallah i will go 4 a double nali wala... magar woh new kaheen se mil jae ga... i cannot trust the kabli ones caz this is pakistan u know.
after installing the radiator i will go for installing the thermo...
waise on long routes the car rarely overheats and the prob is in city only...

also for ur info.. i have done the following measures to keep my car not overheat...
1. never switch on interior fan at 3 or 4 speed..
always 2 in the noon and at 1 in the night.
this helps in maintaining good temp. caz the compressor responds to it. at 1speed it trips frequently.

1. radiator service every month even its working fine or not.

2. avoid noon driving at extreme hot temp outside.

but yesterday i had a chat with my uncle(mamooon)
he strongly apposed the idea of the thermo valve.
he said it is only needed in the countries where temp is very low.
in our countries the temp is mild all the times so it doesnt make any difference.
btw he is an automobile engineer with 30yr expe...

secondly he told me ke baleno and santro mein temp sensor is placed at the block of the engine not on the head.
so if the water level decreases in the car the temp remains same in the gauge since the sensor is taking readings from the block of the engine (which has got full water.)but at the other hand the water level is decreasing in the head thus, overheating the car and blowing the gasket.
so to avoid this, he said, check the water daily and fill it with coolant.

original suzuki thermostat valve with original packing for rs 650 along with japanese thermostat switch for rs 450 . mechanic took 100 rs to fit both . its hardly half an hour job , if the mechanic knows . hope this helps you .

I must appreciate the efforts of writter "orginal topic" for providing such information to layman like me.
After reading, i have one question "Optimum temperature of car is 82'c which is achieved when gauge goes at middle". But in winter the gauge doesnot reach even at quarter because of outside weather, Does it mean that engine is not working at its best?

temp guage in middle is the optimum temp required by engine to perform at its max so it shud b at middle
and removing thermstat valve is not good especially in winters
reinstall thermostat valve in winters to get optimum temp and performance when eveything in coooooooool
i hav noticed that after acis on cars become more heated and bcom hard clean ur radiator by flushing water out and go to service station and ask guy to open radiator and clean it by there pressurized water it will make water flow easy if problem persist then consult any mechanic of ac to check ur ac

first in winters install thermostat valve in ur car it will help engine to attain optimum temp in winters
without thermostat valve even if fan os off water circulates in cooling system this retards engine to heat up to optimum temp
