well it depends on what size LEDs you will use. i have posted the pic of LEDs in the original post lok above. the ones in the picture are 3mm and 5mm. if you are planning to use 5mm then you cant use a 6mm rod.
8mm or 12mm should be ideal.

i bought one 15 inch rod of 12mm for 125Rs each about 4 months back.
i am no familiar with the current prices.
transportation to rawalpindi=? (since i have never sent anything there before)

@pico: goto a shop where they sell blinds( the ones in the offices) ... they will most definitely have the rods

yaar i gave the searching one more time,,,i checked the window blind shops, hardware shops ,, but still couldnt find these acrylics

i need two 8mm rods of 15 inch each.

u said u bought 12mm ones for 125 rs,, so i think 8mm ones wud cost about 100rs each,, so 200rs for both,, and lets say 100 rs for courier charges,,,, agar aap ye acrylics muje pindi send karnay mein willing ho to mein aap ko 350 rs bhej deta hun,,, i wud be really grateful if u helped,,,,,,,, waiting for ur reply. thnks!!!

One last hope for you is go to an office, look around to see if no one is there, and steal the acrylic rod becsuse offices have the kind of horizontal blinds that require the acrylic rod to move them!

where did you search, LEDs are avalible with all car accessory shops. however this specific type was bought from electronic market saddar (in coperative market i guess). they are readily avalivle in many shapes and sizes.

DIY store, dont know what that is, but this should be avalible more readily around u than here. you will probably find the hexagonal ones, which are better for our purpose. keep me updated.

optimus, i didnt really get the covering the ring in aluminium foil. could u explain it in a little more detail

basically attach any kind of reflective material at the back of the ring, so the light does not escape from the back and the rings are brighter.

It is really a very good and very easy project! Even if I don't want to install these in my Civic 2010, I'll surely attempt to make a pair myself! Going out for shopping!!
