^ this harness is of the brightness control and sel/reset button. the harness has to be removed to take off the cover. The grey wire seen in the pic will be used for the illumination +tive n needs to b connected to point 10 of clockspring

next u'll have to take out the stereo!
> the remove the upper rubber part of the dashboard slot loc beneath the stereo
> there are 2 screws/nuts which are holding the stereo in place
> these nuts/screws are real difficult n tricky to remove.
> the right screw to be removed by approaching it from the passenger seat n the left via the driver seat
> TIP: Using a mirror to see the exact location of the screws will make it easier for the screw driver to sit properly in the slot. U can use a ratchet aswell as this screw is a nut too
> once the nuts are removed just unlock the steering wheel n pull it towards urself as it'll make removing the panel much easier as the wiper lever obstructs its path.
> from the left bottom side u will have to unfasten the AC control harness.
> from the right bottom side the harness for the hazard light needs to be removed.
> at this stage i recommend u take a helping hand from another person so that he/she holds the stereo while u remove the harnesses
> its advisable if u put a cloth/towel on top of the gear lever to avoid scratches as in this way u can let the stereo to rest forward on top of the gear lever while u remove the harnesses.
> there are two harnesses att to the stereo.one is the main harness n the other for the antenna.
> these harnesses will have to be approached from the top side of the stero
> once all the harnesses are removed just pull out the stereo gently.

> in order to remove the steering u'll need a ratchet set. (i hope thats the right english for it! a.k.a Goti set in local lingo)
> just remember to use a marker n mark the hub at a couple of places so that when u fix the steering back on, the alignment is correct
> the steering will be tight. In order to loosen it just use the palm of ur hand n tap it hard at both ends n it will come off

thanks 4 the appreciation bro,but honestly i aint no wizard.i havent studied any elecronics etc what so ever.its just that my interest took me there n never gave up.started by fixing fuse wires at home n fixing my broken toys etc.ive screwed up many things aswell e.g. In this process i snapped the clockspring/cable reel. But i never gave up.on the contrary i opened it up n did a DIY n fixed it.this ultimately led me to da understanding of the clockspring n i ultimately got the cruise control. Its all coz of ALLAH`s blessing ,support of frends like u n many others. It seems simple to me now but it took over a yrs brainstorming+perseverance+hardwork. Thanx 4 the sp guys.

The confidence that the sh*theads at the dealerships have no less I.Q than i do 2. I love n care 4 my car more than any1 else! 3. Keen observation! 4. Checked DIY forums n youtube etc 5.TRUST in my abilities. 95% of our mechs are the 1s which are promoted from the chotas to ustaads n they have little or no technical trg they do on job trg n those trg platforms are OUR cars n i wasnt ready to let ne1 experiment on my car less myself!

you will have to remove the stereo n to remove the stereo u will need to remove three dash parts ive shown in this DIY without removing the stereo. after this detailed DIY it shouldnt be such a big problem. there are only 3 screws in all to rermove dash+stereo. for the kenwood see its wiring layout from its manual. it ususally has the remote/external control options. all modern stereos of the popular makes have the option. here in Pak the thiefs at Atlas,suzuki n Indus dont give such features for cost saving. usually the harness isnt provided or the wires are missing. u will need to soulder/ attach the wires n then route them the same way as described in the thread.
