i was thinking about that. but grease was oozing out a bit when i wiggled the inner race of the bearing.

theres a rubber seal on the inner side of bearing and a steel retainer type on the other side. which one has to come off to fill in the grease? i rather avoid fiddling with seals unless i have a spare seal on hand.

other wise it means holding up all work, and going from north karachi to plaza to look for a genuine seal.

a successfull DIY is always a great feeling.

i have several more works to do. since i am now based in office instead of field, i only have little time on weekends.

works to do,
1) drill and tap broken valve cover bolt.
2) replace oil sump seal, will do it with permatex ultra black this time
3) permatex cold weld on a hole in the muffler. gas batti welding gets corroded again and again.
4) replace oring and oil seal of distributor. engine bay is really nasty oily and dusty.
5) complete rebuild of power steering pump. have not been able to get the pulley nut off. dont have a vice or impact wrench.

poor mans impact wrench is plenty.

its called a hammer on a wrench. and poor mans vice for a pulley is to use a locking pliers with the belt on the pulley and the pump on the engine.

tried that. not able to grip the pulley properly. keeps slipping.

tried a rod through the pulley to hold it in place. nearly twisted the pulley.

that nut has never been opened since 1997. seems abnormally jammed.

Try smacking the nut with a socket first to break the initial bond.

If you are failing

Then find a gate/jaali welder and buy 2 pieces of metal about 1 inch wide and chunky too. Make sure one is longer than the other, approx one piece should be 14 inches and the other 10

Drill holes on ends of the shorter one, one hole in the longer one and one hole somewhat at its 10 inch or so mark.

This is to fashion a pulley holder.

Use nut and bolts as fulcrum and also gripping tooth.

Use tool in provided holes.

You can also find similar but weaker tools in motorcycle market, they use it to hold magneto in place.
