Guys.. I have surprise for all of you... As i roaming around Guess what I found the New Mark X....(H) I just stopped my vehicle as I saw X sign on the grill.. and took few pics Enjoy !

most look like good for scrap cars, out of market, and unwanted, e.g. the older mercedes benz cars, or all of the Taxi edition Toyota crown, or the old Toyota Chasers and I know no-one would like to buy a beat up Ford Crown Victoria (theyre dead cheap anyway).

The reason you dont find this in Pakistan is because cars in Pakistan actually appreciate then depreciate. e.g. a car rental service would still be using a W140 S class when its more than a decade old now. Or a corolla actually goes for more money than it was worth brand new. Its a confusing situation.

Yeah it does.. You cannot drive RHD cars in Dubai.. Plus LHD you get at really cheap rates but then maintainance issues start cos of extreme hot weather... Many people I know who bought the LHD Mercs just by looking from the exterior but when they start driving.. the reality comes across.. There are many wear and tear issues.. Japs poora Juice nikalkar they send it ova here..

The bit in the news about reconditioned cars had a sentence about Junk - That sentence was for these cars. The so called reconditioned cars you get in Pakistan are pieced together from 2 or 4 cars like the ones in the original post.

Exacgtly.. I remember back in 2007 when I bought Premio this showroom dealer told me its imported Directly from Japan.. I asked him if he has Dubai stock also.. He said No wayyy !! cos on one side of seat belt would be 2002 other would be 2004... They join different car parts then export the car !!

If maintained properly, w140 can still serve purpose well (taxi/president car). It is worth a car.

have you owned a W140? - it gets mighty expensive to run.. I dont think any taxi fleet in the world used a W140 benz as a taxi car.

No, I have not owned, I just have read reviews from owners and know few of them who own it. I agree with you on your points. No doubt it is expensive to maintain. no rental service will run such an old model. Unless it was refurbed at the MB factory itself. The economics of keeping it running are too wild for business purpose.

For presidential cars - its too old, a lot of advancement has been seen after the original W140 MB.

You must visit Morocco my friend ... They have a huge fleet of W123 Taxis ... They are called "Grand Taxis" there ... As opposed to (relatively) modern "petit" taxis which are smaller fiat / peuguet type hatches.

Old Mercs there are like our 70s vintage "kaali/peeli" taxis! They are so rugged that they just wont die!

Grand Taxis are generally shared vehicle ... similar to the Ching Chees in use in Khi!
