Russia or the USSR never wanted to reach warm waters. It was a myth created by our evil genius, Gen Zia and his cronies who then thought that "Islam khatray mein hay". They succeeded in molding the public opinion in their favor and as a result got millions of $ from their god father, America.
If USSR was for the warm waters, they are living beyond 1979 and as such have not even tried to reach "there" as was our premise. A little rationalism needed when perceiving history and claiming it to be truth.
