Sir,
The base model honda civic in the uk is far more superior in quality compared to the so called top of the line varient offered in Pakistan. Guys at Atlas Shirazee are still not as stingy and decieving as their counterparts at Indus habib group. The base model mehran euro compliant is as good as the old carby version. Time will tell how tough are the new engines. adding a few stickers , an outdated efi system and increasing the price doesnt necissarily mean improved. The euro compliant cultus was a big flop compared to its former carby versions. Their feul averages are dissapointing along with the hard steering wheels. The body and cheap plastic is cheaper then ever. The price tag however is harder to swallow then a beef burger without pepsi. Pakistan still lacks the quality aftersales service requried to maintain cars with efi tech , ecu systems and sensor based mechanism. The consumer is not so literate either , relying mostly on the local ustad whos a master of old carb engines... failing every new technology which comes on board.
Auto industry is not lazy. Its more of a game between various entities unfortunatly who live only for MONEY. Passion and glory never graced their minds. Classic stangs and the lot will remain a dream especially for the middle class consumer. As far as Mehran goes , the current price tag of 7 lacks is not to far from the 11 lack mark. Thats a differnt ball game all together. consumers are being forced to purchase.
This is a serious matter that is getting neglected... I wonder what will happen to the nissan ottis , mitsu ekwagons , kei cars. More horrific what will happen with hybrids ...the same that happend with mini pajero?? i shudder to think....
