Our dear Pakwheel's member @Deadly_Flame reached out to detail his 2010 black Honda city that from an exterior perspective was in a bad bad shape. I was told the driver used to clean it with a buttoned shirt and you'll see what he meant with that.. This was the picture I was sent to show the state car was in (notice the two lights being reflected on hood that hardly have any clarity):
So it was one fine saturday and when I left home. An overcast day and raining heavily by the time I reached. Following are the pictures I took with a mobile cell phone with flash ON to get the state of swirls:
Closeup of swirls (notice the colour.. hardly a black car... Thats what happens when your car is swirled.. Light reflects in different directions from the edges of swirls thus not reaching your eyes appearing dull, non reflective and not deep enough):
[BEFORE]Door handles (badly scratched):
[AFTER]Door handles AFTER (fixed.. by hand as its a tight spot and although some tools can be used but not safe enough):
[BEFORE]Driving door scuff :
[AFTER]Driving door scuff gone :
[BEFORE] TRUNK (Look at the scratches... Can visualise the trunk cleaned with a shirt with button)
[DURING] TRUNK (50-50 shot.. with a tape in between and correcting the ride side and left side still swirled).
[AFTER] TRUNK after compounding (the same flash that was showing the spiderweb swirls is not clear. There is minor compounding haze on the right side which was further refind by a finishing polish)
The paint was corrected using a combination of Meguiars D300 compound and Scholl concepts S20 Black.
The paint was then cleansed with Prima Amigo.
Then waxed with collinite 915.
[AFTER] TRUNK fully detailed
It was about 4pm by the time car was fully corrected and then took the beauty shots with iphone while car was in porch:

and now the showstopper shots:
and the following was sent by Aksum (car owner) a week later:
To say the least, Aksum was over the moon to see the results and I had a great time in the company of Aksum.
I hope you've enjoyed the car detailed illustrated with pictures.
