This happened to me while I was just 12ā¦.My father had a Corolla 1977 and I was
allowed to start the car by my father since I had a passion for driving. Once our family
went to our home town for a week or so. After a few days, I some how managed to get
the keys of the car, while my father was in the drawing room with some visitors. I called-
up all of my cousins to come-up to the car that was parked in the street. We all entered
the car and I started the engine, put the handbrake down and slowly released the clutch
without throttling the engine. At the other corner of the street, there was a āChappar-
Hotelā and the man was serving tea to the customer, sitting on a āChar-Paiā at the road
side. When he saw an empty car (imagine a 12 year old boy driving the car, one cannot
see him from 10 feet) rolling towards him, the cup was dropped from his hands and start
shouting for a help and at the same time tilted the āChar-Paiā to drop the customer from it and get it aside.
On the other hand, when my father saw that the car has left itās parking place, he along-
with the visitors ran after the car, put their hands on the car from back side to stop it, but
they couldnāt. I suddenly realized the situation and pulled the handbrake. The car stopped
just at about 2 feet from that hotel. Later me and my cousins were laughing at the funny
show by the āHotel-Walaā .....
