bachay ghair syaasi hotay hain
In desi culture when you are having rishta-daar or family friends over for lunch or dinner at your home....then after the meal is taken and dessert is served and eaten etc...and enough of gup shup also done...the guests sometimes forget to leave...i mean they over-stay their welcome.
A friend of mine has a 4 years old kid. One day they were having some family-friends over for dinner. Dinner was served....eaten...dessert was served....eaten....qahwa (green tea) was served and taken.
Now gup-shup started ...and went on for quite a while....The hosts now expected the guests to conclude the talk and take leave...as my friend and his wife had to go to their jobs next day and their 4 years old kid had to go to school early morning which required the family to go to sleep in time...and that required the guests to leave...However, as per the cultural norms...the initiative of taking leave MUST be taken by the guest..and not the host. The guests remained glued to sofa and kept on chit chatting on issue after issue... when it was close to mid night....my friend's 4 years old kid jumped out of his sofa and said loudly:
"baba...main jaa raha hoon apnay kamray sonay....inn logo nay tau pata nahi kab jaana hay.."
hearing that ...there was sudden silence in the other-wise chirpy, full-of life drawing room. Out of embarrassment the guests were at once on their feet...and were seeking permission to leave.....My friend apologized and said that "plz dont take kid's remarks to heart"....But they left in a few minutes.
Moral: Never over-stay your welcome.
