Engine Check by Unknow Police. Beaware

Thats strange. Usually customs people do like this but they are in white shalwar kameez and hilux or vigos. And they have thier IDs on request.

they were anti car lifting squad people we found our stolen car by them thats not fishy at all some time they appear without uniform

Ive seen alot of cops roaming around in nice tinted civics etc. Smart looking guys, which is unusual for Sindh police because they usually have big big tummys.

They check if you are running a NCP similar car with plate registered to a similar car. They try to trace em through engine number. Same thing for stolen cars. These are parha likha guys usually part of ACLC/Excise police.

Just a thought :: maybe they want to install ur Legitimate credentials on similar model stolen or NCP car to make it legal . . .

We should take out positive out of it rather than criticizing on it ( not pointing at anyone, just saying generally ). If they are checking, we should cooperate with them as this might help in decreasing the stealing ratio + increasing the recovery ratio as well. We should put aside our egos that why they are checking me etc.

They could fetch that much information by just putting registration number on MTMIS site. But they are rather checking chasis and engine number and confirming whether the car is legitimate.

seems they were private people and were trying to find their stolen car or policemen looking at cars with engines swaped and not updated on papers and wanted to make money.

There r many cars with swapped engines but not updated on papers n still not a stolen car. So they can catch such cars n mint sme chai pani but plz put me wise as how this modus operandi serve to catch stolen cars?

If swapped engine is not from a stolen car the owner can satisfy them by showing purchase proof

I guess the polich wud have database of stolen engine numbers

They belong to anti car lifting cell. They travel in disguise so as not aware fraudsters. Some priavte teams of banks also do the same. They check chasis to find cars whose installments are not paid. Lahore is thoroughly checked by cia and bank teams to catch illegal cars. Its perfectly normal these days. Nothing to worry

Engine is not given the priority. The chassis number is checked mainly. If there is some henki phenki, then and only then they check the engine number
