Not ok. Use 0W-20

I purchased prius 2007 but changed its engine because of oil reduction. Now the replaced engine also reduced the oil like 3 or 4 cm from the maximum point at the guage. I went to the dealer who sold the engine to me who in return checked the engine, removed the carbon etc and changed the oil with zic 10w 40. I told him that 0w 20 or 5w 20 is recommended option bit he was adamant thay 10w 40 will work perfectly as the engine is used and not the new one.
Kindly guide me on this.

You can get 0W-20 from Total or Shell. They have it at all their good service stations.

You can have higher fuel average (20+) in city with AC if change your good quality plugs. I will recommend you Denso Iridium fxe20hr11. But try to purchase ONLY made in Japan. If it’s made in China then please don’t buy it. It won’t be original. I am currently using these plugs in my Prius 2014 with 200K on odometer with 0w-20 Liqui-moly and getting 20+.

Which oil would you recommend for vitz 2014, its been driven around 40k in Lahore and have been using 10w-30 toyota petron plus. At the time of buying the odo showed around 36k.

0w20 is the grade for vitz. As well as Prius. In fact all modern toyota engines.

Stick to it.

Any full synthetic brand. I suggest Havoline.

I have been using ZIC 0W20 in my Prius, switched down from ZIC A+ 5W20. Change interval is 4000km, but when I take the dipstick at 4000km, it is usually good, takes almost 5-600km more before it is dark enough to change because the engine is not running half of the time. Satisfied so far.

Not at all. These are all old myths from ancient era.

Use 0w20 for engine lifetime. hundreds of thousands of kilometers. If it's not reducing liters of oil all good.

Thick oil can degrade an engine though..

5,000 km is piece of cake on a fully synthetic 0w20 oil.. easily can use it to 7,000 km as well. Either that or if you reach 6 months mark within 7,000km then change it.
