Engine Oil For Summers

If u read Toyota owner manual they recommend SAE 5W-30, API SM or higher and International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC) certified engine oil. But they have SAE 20W-50 API SL

u r using ZIC A+ (SAE 5W-20, API SN, ILSAC GF-5) That's the highest quality engine oil, Secondly u r using lighter viscosity engine oil its means your car engine 100% OK. When engine consume 1L/1000 KM engine oil then increase oil viscosity like 0W-30. Don't go for any other engine oil.

All engine oil manufacturer companies are going for lighter viscosity like

B4 Now
ZIC A+ (5W-30) 5W-20
Caltex 10W-30 5W-30
Total 5W-40 5W-30
Honda 10W-30 5W-30 etc.....

I have not used the shell and helix, i can tell you from my experience.I am usingZIC XQ (5W40) in my swift DLX and have driven 55000 kms. Found it to be excllent for fuel economy and performance. I would recommend it. Get from authorised dealer and hopefully chances of fake are less as it is not much used and sells less. Would cost 3200 for 4 liter but good enough for 10,000 kms, just change oil filter at 5000.

ZIC XQ 5W-40 SM/CF is fully synthetic engine oil API Group IV base oil ( PAO Poly Alpha Olefin)
I don't think u have to change oil filter after 5000 km if it Genuine. Daewoo Bus Service are also using ZIC 5000 POWER and they change after 20000 km

It was told by the zic guy to do so that it is better to change it at 5000.i use genuine filter.

Why don`t you try FUCHS ? i am using it in both my cars ! and found it to be much better then Caltex and Patromin !

Sticked to Havoline Fully Synthetic n very mch satisfied wid its performance... Thnx fr valuable advices fellows

The HASCOL pump at Shahra-e-Faisal has a full range of FUCHS products . I am using 10/40 in my GTTi and 20/50 on the CNG honda . Found the Oil pressure to be much better then Caltex and Patromin while the temps are good as well . I compared FUCHS side by side with Liqui Molly and found both to be almost equal . FUCHS 10/40 costed 1920 Rs while the 20/50 one costs 1600 something . While liqui molly was 3.5k ! . I normally change oil at max 450 - 500 Kms so liqui molly was an expensive option .

hi everybody I have read this thread today so m a bit late coz yesterday I changed the engine oil with Zic A+ plus in my corolla gli 2010 ,

Now this graph shows that 20W-50 would be the best grade for the weather conditions of Karachi. Am i right guys?

SAE Viscosity Grade Selection of engine oil according to API.

i am going to shift to shell helix ultra and will stick with it i hve good experience with helix plus that blue one
i have been using 0w30 zic but it is noot a good choice for summers

For checking engine oil viscosity at high temperature, check its viscosity grade second number like 5W-20 has 20 grade and OW-30 has 30 grade.
30 number engine oil high viscosity then 0W-20 and 5W-20

U should use SAE 0W-30, 5W-30 or 10W-30.
20W-50 is for older engine. Use ILSAC Certified engine oil.
