no i got the first free service after 3 months and 750 KMs. since the car was not driven 1000 km in 3 months. dealership asked me to get FFS at 1K KM or 3 months which ever comes first.

Go for 4.2L if manual says, I'll also do the same. (With filter change)

I am confused as; I did my first OIL + OIL FILTER at 1000kms. I bought two tins each 4 lit thus total 8 lit only for the reason that I will need to pour 4.2 later. BUT after putting in 4 later; I am still unable to see any deficiency i.e. the oil is almost at upper level. Somehow my observation is that oil is generally spread over much larger length. I want to avoid overfill and unable to detect shortage of 0.2 lit my any means!!! I think I should share pic of the dipstick. I check oil as per recommendation of manual i.e. warm engine and after 5 min!

Please suggest what to do?

Stick to the same oil in tin, it's a very good oil and blended by idemitsu Japan. Stick to it for well over 50,000km unless your other tin ends, and after that you can think of shifting or sticking to the same oil. 4.2L Is the recommended oil capacity. Please follow that. Change oil at every 5k kms with oil filter. Even wiki motors recommended that

no brother. it might be the case with old mineral oils. new synthetics are developed with additional additives to improve the viscosity stability for a bigger operation range.

taglon is fully synthetic and its a very good oil.

yes bro you are right 5W-50 mieans it is as thin as 5W-40 at colder temps (winter) and does not loose properties in summer at above 40 deg C where as 5W-40 is limited below 40 deg C

Bro, you are a bit wrong there.
5w30 won't suit the car in 40 degree of temperature. Xw40 or 50 are best for Paki enviornment. @makhdoom123 is using LM 5w40 as well.

Follow the specification given in the owners manual, and you will be happy. 50 is too thick. For new engine 30 should be best.

Basic theory is finer oil for new engines in view of fine clearances, and thicker oil for older engine as clearances increase.

No it's not. Manual clearly says to go for 30-50 viscosity ones. Also, 30 viscosity doesn't really suits our enviornment.
Used 10w30 for 15000kms in this engine.
The issue is Toyota says to run it for 5k kms. After three thousand kms it starts to consume more petrol on highways and engine become more noisy.
Going to change it today on 5w50 Taglon fully synthetic. Kept it on mineral coz didn't want run engine on synthetics for initial period.

Well I have a Civic 9th generation. Honda Classic (3S) always fill it with Honda fully synthetic oil 5W30. Civic and Corolla have similar engines. Why should the oil be so different ?

Poured 5w50 fully synthetic toyota taglon oil today and I must say, engine is way smoother and less noisy now. It will definitely give me better fuel consumption now. [emoji4]

Wanted to ask that is 5w50 good for GLi A/T?? I think it will be give the engine a heavy feeling. Currently using 10w30 in my corolla and getting around 12-14km/l in city on my route. From 20k onwards i am thinking of using LM 5w30 or 5w40.

I would rather say that you should consider the enviornment someone is driving in before recommendations. Fyi: oil companies filed suit on Ford when they said cars will give better fuel economy on 5w30 as compare to 20w50 they were using before.

The same corolla 1.8 is being filled with Toyota 0W20 GF5 from toyota dealerships. I guess its the same 1.8 engine in Pakistan too. This oil has VI of 216 which i guess is the highest. Excellent fuel economy and OE recommendation oil.

Fully synthetics are different then simple mineral oil.
They are less thick than mineral based oils and deliver better performance.

5w50 fully synthetic will be less thicker than 10w30 or 5w30 mineral based

Morover i have had not good experience with using 5w30 in 1.8 grande the oil barely lasted 3k kms on harsh usage.

After pouring 5w40 fully synthetic oil didnt even sweat after driving continously on 170-180kmph for 2.5 hours.

Ford has recommended 5W20 for its most engines since ages. 5W20 dino. Most commonly in modular 4.6L 2V
