Engine Oil Query: Toyota Prius 1.8

Liquimolly is the best choice I guess. It can be purchased from official dealers from Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi, I live in Lahore just bought two packs of liquimolly 0-20 grade 5000/4litre. I guess this is the best choice and recommended for prius as well. In Lahore you can find their dealer opposite to Qulfi shop near muslim town moor, and I guess from Islamabad its shop no 15, I-8 markaz.

@xulfiqar, my prius alpha has been running well on ZIC 0/20 until recently. I am not a big fan of ZIC but thats what the previous owner has been using so I thought it might be a good idea to continue with it. However, recently it startef shuddering a bit with visible loss of power. Plug replacemenr yiekded good results but some symptoms remain. Fearing a chowked cat convertor, i had the vehicle scanned to find that the oil is evaporating although thankfully the cat convertor aint clogged. The throttle body had some deposits of oil. Yes, you can acfuall dip a piece of paper in it to extract liquid oil. We are going for a throttle and intake port service tomorrow as well as an oil change. My mechaic has sourced AMSOIL Signature series 5/30 for me costing around PKR 10,000 for 4.1 liters. As reviews suggest, AMSOIL does offer a long drsin interval od (claimed) 25,000kms. What do you have to say about the whole thing? Should i go for AMSOIL.? What other options do i have. Would cleaning the MAP sensor and port smoothen the drive? Thanks in advance for your help.

By the way, the person (Mr. Afzal) who is at Muslim town, is not main dealer of LM. He just sells LM products.In Lahore the main LM dealer is Mr. Wasif at Mozang area.

They (main dealer at mozang) now have an authorized dealer at bahria town lahore, Iqbal oil store (before timmys).

Why change oil of hybrid car at 5000???

Should be minimum 10,000 for the weak hearted and 15,000 for people with strong nerves.

Dusty atmosphere??? If you are using a genuine oem air filter, its only job is to filter the air and let only clean air enter the engine, the dusty atmosphere should affect the air filter not the engine. If you are using guard or any chinese junk, then you should worry about dusty atmosphere.

Yes driving conditions do matter but please check amsoil reviews on prius forums. It is one of the best oils for a hybrid prius. Some prkus owners in the states have actually ran their cars over the recommended interval of 25k miles (40k kms) without any loss of effeciency. I replacsd the zic with AMSOIL 0/30 today with amazing results. Engine is much qiiter and quicker. Fuel consumption has improved from 18.2 to 22.3 over 93kms between islamabad and pindi. I plan maintaining a 1tk drain interval for oil and filter replacement at 7.5k.. i have used a japanese OEM filter with 10-12k replacement. 4.1 liters AMSOIL would cost you aeound 11k

Best oil for your engine is Liqui Moly Synthoil 5W-40. People say don’t use high viscosity oils with ratings above 30 but for high summer temperatures near 50 degrees you need oils with minimum 40 summer viscosity so that it’s properly lubricates your engine.

Do check the Liqui Moly online store in Pakistan. They sell original made in Germany oil. You can also check which Liqui Moly oils are compatible with your engine on their global oil guide. Just google Liqui Moly engine oil guide and you’ll be good to go. To find out the oil change frequency you can email Liqui Moly Germany.

No need to use such high mileage oils in Pakistan.
Oem oil filter will be chocked at 12,000kms.
It’s better that you stick to good oils which lasts 8-10k kms in Pakistani enviornment, and drain them.
Mobil 1 and Liqui Moly are best suited for that.
If i’ll be in US than i’ll be using that, but not in Pak.
People ignore some major factors like dust, pollution, humidity and bad fuel quality.

For prius, shell has recently launched helix ultra 5w20 and 0w20. Use 5w20 IMO

AOA, I've been feeding my 2010 (gen 3 ) prius with 0w20 LIQUI MOLY but its seems like its evaporating or something because every time i take dip (after a week or so ) it shows lower and lower quantity ,
Secondly when i use higher grade oil the sound of the engine also goes high which clearly means that its not something good i suppose ,
the ODO on the car shows 88k but I'm sure the meter is reversed ( God knows how many times ).
I need a sincere and urgent advice regarding this engine oil fiasco since it is driving me crazy and making me hate the car .

old dig but apparently the problem you had stated occurs when using the junk Liqui Moly engine oil.
Change it to Toyota oEM 0W-20 API SN ILSAC GF5 lube and drain it out on maximum 5000km's and observe the engine oil levels then.

I have a 2015 toyota prius S Led 1.8, driven almost 135000 kms. I have been using revenol 10W-40 but i feel alot of heaviness in my car even i have done also get my car done with the general tuning
I want to shift to fully synthetic which one should i use 5W-30 or 5W-40?

yes either stick with orignal toyota 5w-30 or total 9000 5w-30 API SN fully synthetic oil
