I have rebuilt rotaries and they will work for a long time - the basis of the rebuild is NEW PARTS - not used scrap junk items, the parts list for a age worn engine usually is
new housings
irons (depending on wear)
NEW tension bolts
genuine mazda full overhaul engine seal kit
brand new sundry parts.
I had an old FB RX7 once - and I rebuilt its engine - it did cost dearly but worked flawlessly afterwards, Very fun to drive.
Rebuilding tools other than a metric set require a tested and calibrated torque ratchet, a great lot of vaseline and the mazda service book - it cannot be done on touch and feel basis. In our country where mechanics rely 95% on the junkyard and "feel experience" for car repairs - rotary engines are doomed unless you yourself are able to repair your car.
