hi Arshad, i was searching some detail to visit Kashmir and your thread has really impressed me with excellent narrations and superb pictures.. the lush green landscape are really fascinating and i am even more excited to be there ASAP..

could you please help me to guide my trip which will be around 5 days from Rawalpindi in mid of June.. i will be with family including a 3 years daughter and will be using public transport.. my main concern is about accomodation and weather during this period! so can you please advise on availability of hotels or if we need to stay rest/guest house, then where do we need to book them? thnx.

We stayed in the Dowarian resthouse. The one at Kel was completely booked by some minister.

thanx Arshad, this is really informative.. just finalizing the detail and throught to check more info with you.. will 5 days be enough for this trip from Pindi.. secondly how about weather during mid June. i will be with wife and 3 years daughter..

5 days are usually enough for a trip to Neelum valley. The weather will be very pleasant past Keran (Neelum). Before Athmuqam the weather will be very hot just like Islamabad in June. Of course rain can change it completely.

Also you should keep the following points in mind.
The road is in very bad condition. It could be irritating for your family if they are not the adventure loving type.
Your first 100KM from Muzaffarabad to Athmuqam will be very hot. Consider an A/C fitted vehicle for this leg of journey.
Once in Kel you should definitely visit Taobut and Shonter areas....

thnx Arshad for such wonderful advices.. i will surely plan accordingly.. can you also give some idea about Jeep fares in Sharda & Kel and what is ur suggestion if we take private car or taxi from Muzafferabad onward journey.. will it be feasible in terms of being economical, convinient and enjoyment.. i m keeping budget around 3000 per day for only transport..

I ate them in taobut during my trip to neelum valley...we tried but were not able to catch so we bought them from local boys see my thread below...see trout fish on page 5...

I have to ask 1 question
we r going to trek chita katha insha allah after EID. The things I need to ask is that We have camps,but no gas cylinder for cooking at camps, hmay treking k lye janay sy pehlay Kel ya Domail bala py ya kahi or valley men khanay penay ka saman wahi sy mil jai ga ya we have to bring our own all the things.
