Yes very much agreed. You could have used your own cars which would have saved the 50% of the travelling cost. Our family has done the same mistake where trip to Nathia Gali costed them like 50k including rental / diesel + tolls. They stayed there like for 2 nights 3 days with the per day paying format. Near to me it was hell expensive - i.e. the reason I avoid such trips.
P.S Approx. price / liter that time was approx. 110/liter but by all means travelling on your own always saves you money.
