Family road trip from Karachi to Gilgit Baltistan

Ryk > Bahawalpur > Multan > Chichawatni > Toba Tek Singh > Gojra > Faisalabad motorway. Ideally, this should save you 100kms. Although, traffic from Multan till Faisalabad motorway is two way and filled with stupid truck and bus drivers.

Suggestion: Avoid N5 if you can. You might think you can keep 90kmph but trucks keep all lanes of highway occupied and you'll be overtaking them from left side dirt track.

No it's two way traffic, means no partition.
But the road is fine, you can drive very easily at 80kmph most of the time and push for 100kmph as easily.

nai maray bhai, app ko kisi nay na sirf galat guide kiya hay bulkeh app ki malomat bhi sahi nain. i have been travling on N5 for ages and there is no dirt track at all. yes trucks are there but itnay ? NO WAY.... next time take N5 it will save your lots of time.

He has experienced it himself, not mis-guided.
And this is my route to hometown as well, Multan to LAhore (N5).

From some recent past, you really get stucked in a cluster of trucks and most of the times you find two trucks overtaking and you lose ur patience and start over taking from the left side, mostly u remain on the road.
If you don't remain too close to the truck at ur right, u re half on the road and rest on the 'dirt track'.

Wese b there's no reason you go to LAhore while travelling from Karachi/RYK to islamabad unless u ve got to do something there.

two trucks overtaking, that a common scenario. they have right for that as well. Not sure which cluster you stucked upon in recent past. but yes only when there is some blockage then it goes pretty bad.

Driving with nerves "IN" control should be the logic. not that you should cross overtaking trucks with 2 feet dirt track on the side of road. May be its driving style. i never found myself stuck in trucks other than road blocks.

And i am not saying he should come to lahore while going towards islamabad. i just said he is misguided. and frankly he did not replied that he was misguided or its his own experience while on the other hand you are claiming its his experience. just saying, let the person reply rather than you taking it personal and reply on his behalf.

About their right of way.. No they don't have the right to use extreme right (third) lane of highway. That lane is reserved for cars only. They follow this rule on Motorway but not on other highways.

Its not about the driving style. You can't afford to reach only Sukkur when you wanted to be at Bahawalpur to get to Islamabad on day 2. Hope it helps.

Sorry I was travelling back home so didn't have access to internet. Just reached home yesterday.
Trip went very good. I will share my experience and details with photos later inshaAllah.

About those trucks.. I found truck walas in Punjab and northern region very reasonable and considerate drivers. They don't intentionally occupy second lane if they see someone is coming from behind. Even if they started overtaking, they will retreat back to their lane to give you way.

I can't say the same for truck walas in Sindh.

It's sad but in Pakistan everyone just loves to abuse everything about Pakistan. I invite you to visit any "civilised" county and drive.Theres in nothing annoying that stuck behind a overtaking lorry on two lane road or stuck behind slow moving truck on single track but it's part of life and they have right to do this.
