brother, i think i have cleared all your questions earlier,

and rest abt the timings, you can reach mingora with in 4 hours from islamabad or say 5 hours if drive leisurely and taking rest .

swat is the name of whole valley, from mingora till behrain all is swat,,, what u want to know, i have already told you bhai keh i passed my first night at malam jabba, falak ser hotel, i have quoted its fare earlier, you can see pics of flak ser hotel as well.

i have already told you that i took my optra till behrain than, i think it is clear that any car can reach till behrain, coz honda or toyota have a bit higher bed than optra.

from mingora to behrain you will take 4 to 5 hours as road till khowazakhaila is fine but afterwords you will keep traveling at max 20 to 30 km/hr

i didnt go to kalam coz i cant take my car up there, only jeeps can reach there instead i moved to shangla pass...

Its so depressing to see that while the world is progressing we are regressing in our beloved Pakistan. My family travelled to Kalam in their cars (Mazda 1500, Fiat 124 and Ford Cortina) in 1971 comfortably but you couldnt do it in 2011.

yes omer bhai, this is the problem ... in 2003 i reached straight to kalam without any problem, and this time ....

2ndly this was not the malamjabba and behrain i was known too, both were much hotter than those malam jabba and behrain that i have seen a decade before....

is this global warming or ..... gun powder warming???????????/

OMG.. So sad to see PTDC ruins ... I stayed in that hotel back in 2000 ... it was a very good hotel... its sad

yes, its bad.... its sad and it is worst ever to happen,,, i feel that we lost millions of dollars per year just due to swat invasion. swat was beneficial not only for its tourism but also for its fruits and crops... and some one in this world very cunningly break our that part of income.

Visited Swat every year since 1998 till 2007 but could not visit after that due to terrorism and then in 2010 Kalam,Bahrain and Madyan were the worst hit by floods.One could not even imagine that the water level will raise to such an extent.

yes you are right doc. water level was unbelievable as informed by the people up there,,

we couldnt reach kalam on our own vehicle, and lake was road bound,,, u can reach lake only by trek.. as there were no roads left...

Have videos showing the destruction by water level in Kalam and Bahrain and one is shocked to see that.During my visits in past we had been to different places beyond Kalam like utror,mataltan,mahudand lake and then the famous kandol lake which can only be accessed by hiking.
But now as per my info, Utror side was also worst hit as the river utror and the adjoining road are almost at equal height and the roads are destroyed there also apart from the main road to Kalam from Madyan.

Dear All

i'm planning to visit Swat to Madyaan, behrain after Eid. Has anyone visited recently to Swat valley? Kindly tell me about the roads and other conditions. I been to swat many times before Taliban tenure. I am also planning to go to Mansehra from khawaza khela on my own car. i have heard this is very sight seeing road. Those ppl who have experienced on this road, kindly let me know.

mansehra to behsam on kkh and besham to khowaza khaila via shangla pass.. this pass is amazingly beautifull and road condition is superb.. u can say it is same as like of motor way but a bit less in width...

scenic only shangla pass region rest is not that much beautifull, swat is getting warmer,, road conditions are ok, u can reach bahrain in ur own car...

it cannot be motorway, but seems as good as, the road from mansehra to balakot.

last week i was with family,,, according to them, akailey ghom aaey hamari bari,,, though i already have taken them for small excursion of 3 days before leaving for my destiny 2011. but you all know... NOKAR KI TEY NAKHRA KI..

took them to swat valley,

stayed at malam jabba (falak ser hotel) its a fine hotel, about 2000 for 4 bed room and 1000 for double bed room... weather was not too cold but chilly one...

our next stop was at behrain, as this was the end point of cars... though lower cars are not advised to go behrain, i got some scratches on my car bed..

finally we drove to shangla top and really that was the amazing part of tour.. it is beautifull, it is amazing, its roads are worth enjoying, you can take even ferarri on the road from khawazakhela to shangla pass... will show you pics accordingly but not now, perhaps at night from home...
