Ultar Sar*- Ultar peak is the southeasternmost major peak of the*Batura Muztagh, a subrange of the*Karakoram*range. It lies about 10*km (6.2*mi) northeast of the*Karimabad, a town on the*Karakoram Highway*in the*Hunza*Valley, part of the*Gilgit District*of*GilgitâBaltistan,*Pakistan
While not one of the highest peaks of the Karakoram, Ultar Sar is notable for its dramatic rise above local terrain. Its south flank rises over 5,300 metres (17,388 feet) above the Hunza River near Karimabad, in only about 10*km (6.2*mi) of horizontal distance. Combined with its strategic position at the end of the Batura Muztagh, with the Hunza River bending around it, this makes Ultar a visually striking peak.
The breathtaking views of the peak are seen from Karimabad Aliabad and on Karakorum highway. A full day walk to the Ultar glacier can be made from Karimabad to view the base camp of the mountain and sheer height of this humangus mountain.
âMeadowsâ is a gross exaggeration for the base camp of the Ultar peaks. This*trek packs a powerful punch such that it gives a true taste of what traveling in the Karakoram is all about. Panoramic views at the mouth of Ultar Gorge capture all of Hunza and Nagarâs famous peaks such as Diran, Sumayar, Spantik and Malubiting. The hiking is steep, hot and dry and in stark contrast is the cool misty breeze that rises from outwash stream of the Ultar Glacier. There are two options here. If you have a fear of heights, go with option 2. This trek begins in Karimabad, the tourist hub of Hunza,*
Ladyfinger Peak, is a distinctive rock spire in the*Batura Muztagh, the westernmost subrange of the*Karakoram*range*in*Pakistan. It lies on the southwest ridge of the*Ultar Sar*massif, the most southeasterly of the major groups of the Batura Muztagh. The whole massif rises precipitously above the*Hunza Valley*to the southeast. Bublimotin, while having little*prominence*above the saddle with nearby*Hunza Peak, is particularly notable for being a sharp, relatively snowless rock spire among snow peaks. This, combined with its height above the valley, makes it quite eye-catching; hence the distinctive name. It provides a 600*m (1830*ft)rock climb(with a very serious alpine approach) and has been the scene of some notable*paragliding.
