The beauty was all around in the back side were Rakaposhi and Deran peak and side was golden peak
on over laft were Utar peak and lady finger peak in from was chnging scenes but the main was Passu Cones
there are more and many paeks around but as we recognise few , so those have been mentioned here
Road was quite good like mini motorway and it was told that after the Atta bad Lake the road till Khunjarab pass
On the way we come across a unique Kilen for Brick Making - these are not common in these places
AS we were nearing the Attabad lake the flow and speed of Hunza River was very Visibly increasing As
now its not the normal flow of the River rather it was the out flow water from the Attabad Lake
AS we were nearing the Attbad Lake - the various construction camps of locals and Chinies Workers were very
visible
Than much before the lake comes - The Entrance of The Tunnel , which will by pass the Attbad lake and road will be al through
comes Up .
it was reported that Tunnel was almost near completion and was to be Inagurated by August 14 , but due to some
reasons delayed and was to be open on
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday (September 14 ) inaugurated the Pakistan-China Friendship Tunnels, which have been constructed by China over the Attabad Lake in Gilgit-Baltistan's Hunza valley.
Nawaz said Gilgit-Baltistan is a vital link in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and would benefit most from this mega project which would particularly increase the tourist influx.
The seven kilometre long five tunnels are part of the 24km long portion of the Karakorum Highway (KKH) which was damaged in 2010 due to land sliding at Attabad.
After we left tunnel entrance not yet open and move on , on the left side of Construction area
the road become quite bumpy and rugged - as it was moving down and not the permanent part of the Original KKH
and heavy traffic was regularly passing through it
Than after the decsending turn , a glimpse of the lake was there - Oh amazing -
Water was so blue and deep , surrounding mountains were majestic - it was all mesmerising
That’s the Attabad Lake ---
Attabad Lake, Gojal, also known as Gojal Lake, is a lake in the Gojal Valley of northern Pakistan created in January 2010 by a landslide dam.
Location:*19 km East of Hunza, in the remote Hunza River Valley of northern Pakistan, a massive landslide buried the village of Attabad, destroying 26 homes, killing 20 people, and damming up the Hunza River and a newly formed Attabad lake was created..
Formation of Lake:The lake was formed due to a massive landslide at Attabad village in Gilgit-Baltistan, 9 miles (14 km) upstream (east) of Karimabad that occurred on January 4, 2010. All type of traffic on KKH to and from China was disconnected. In next few days, Attabad Lake was converted into a dam with 130-200 m depth and 22 km length. If this dam was left to be further filled, it would have resulted into a “Dam burst scenario” and would have been the worst disaster of the world. In case of the dam burst, the flow of water downhill towards Gilgit would have been so massive that most of the bridges and villages astride river Hunza would have been completely washed away.
