This was probably a small issue which was made into a bigger one by the non-compliance of the dealership. Car not taking ignition due to faulty self-starter, is alright. Should have been replaced right away at the dealership then and there.
What I have observed in over driving the car for over 60k kms and more than 3 years is that the car is alright, as good as one gets here in Pakistan. But the dealerships are not. Overall, there are a few small issues, like poor sound insulation, which is fixable in a fraction of the cost one would pay for a Japanese brand. But the dealerships are not willing to entertain the customers in the right way. May be, the work load on the dealerships has increased and therefore they tend to send people off in case of minor issues. I myself have started to get oil changes and other minor works from outside. Had to get a wheel bearing changed, went to the dealership, they asked for a few hours, bought the bearing and went to a local mechanic, got done in 20 mins. So that is an issue.
Plus, this Islamabad dealership guys are not very good at customer interaction. I experienced it first hand when I went there once, (I live in Lahore), for oil change. There was nobody at the entrance who could guide me where to go, so I went straight in. Then the service manager came out angrily asking me to get the car outside and wait for some other car to get out. To me, that was the giveaway that these guys are not the kind one wants to interact with when making a purchase or getting a service. Their overall interaction and attitude was also such that they are doing me a favour by changing my car's oil for 300 Rs, which I brought myself, and I could have got it changed for free from where I got it. The guys in Lahore are much better though. They work well, and are polite. However, they have a lot of work load, and thus I have to get most works done from outside.
During my ownership of the vehicle, I haven't faced anything major. Wheel bearings wear out, suspension bushes wear out, brake pads wear out, and that is all that I have ever spent money on. I am satisfied with the car, it is powerful, comfortable and feature-rich, in a very good price. I think most of the owners are satisfied. My brother also bought a V2, looking at my experience and he also doesn't have any complains.
Rest is your choice.
