The three assemblers were also fined by CCP (Competition Commission of Pakistan). CCP and SBP(state bank) also have reported strong evidence that the three assembles operate as a cartel and look after each other and take steps to disturb natural market forces. Their joint representative bodies a.k.a "Japanese Embassy" and "PAMA" always try to block entry of new assemblers. These assemblers, especially Paksuzuki has been getting incentives for decades but they always lodge complaints when somebody even talks about giving 2-3 years of incentives for new assemblers. Recently they have strongly opposed inclusion of MKD (medium knock down kits) and SKD (semi knock down kits) for assembly because this was requested by Volkswagen delegation that visited Pakistan. Similarly, Renault-Nissan and General Motors have also expressed strong interest in market. So far as government has not been agreeing to requests of these investors and instead preferring the big 3 in Pakistan in every step of the way.
Japanese with government support have monopolized and destroyed the local auto sector in such a bad way that even in used cars, Government of Pakistan has higher duties on NON-ASIAN MAKES than ASIAN MAKES so that vehicle imports from Europe and the US are minimized and only used JDMs are imported.(Source FBR car import rules).
