AFter oil change i took it for a small DIY with my friend Amin who is just like us when it comes to DIY's
When i bought the car, radiator fan was direct and i always hate this thing so i converted it back to its normal operation and also placed the mechanical thermostat valve which does not let the temperature drop below first quarter. Now fan operates at half mark and gets on full time when u switch AC on. Overheating problem has been resolved since the time i did these two things with my car
Before going to Kashmir, To be on the safe side. i decided to get in place a manual switch to turn the radiator fan on at your own will. This will avoid any chance of overheating especialy in constant climbs.
Procedure is very simple: there is a thermo switch installed on radiator which gives signal to fan to switch on upon reaching a certain temperature. It has three wires one is for keeping it working with AC one is ground, other is for signaling on and off based on temperature.
All u need is to extend the ground and the temeperature sesing wire inside and place a suitable switch at a place of your choice and convenience.
We got two wires into the cabin through this point. Speedo meter cable goes in from here as well.

wires crossed awaiting union

Place selcted for switch is this small panel at the back of headlight and indicator switches

Wires getting connected to the switch

In place

Connected the wores to the relays which are connected with the wores as i already explained

Now the fan operates whenever i want it
The biggest advantage of this is that normal automatic switch on function is retained and u get the flexibility to switch it on at your own will. It turns on as usual with AC.
With a direct fan, battery gets messed up everytime u give heater and start the car. its better to keep such a switch and turn the fan on only when needed.
