I was cleaning up my Jerry can and look what I found inside. The resedue of petrol, this is what you were telll me about @capsat .

what's the proper way to clean a jerry can? could you please share a step by step procedure as well as what things to use.

Very painful process. I am fixing the outside first, I think I'll get a new one. Lol

I haave cleaned the inside with hot water and detergent as I am out of degreaser.

Next step is to pour HCL (trying to find 20 LTS of it) then I'll keep it for 2 days. Clean it again. Hopefully all the rust and residues will be eliminated. If I can't help HCl I'll either try the acid used for cleanning floors or pour vinegar but for vinegar to work it should be kept at least a week.

Then I'll take off all the paint and apply 2K clear coat only

Try Harpic. It is produced in a thick liquid form. Dilute with water.

let us know if you manage to procure the HCL with the location, would like some for myself as well. Have to clean mine as well. Also, would you happen to know of any paint peelers - to strip of the paint?

No, but I am going to try this on my old 1993 CG 125's front mudguard and exhaust which are rusted out. I have been watching videos of people doing it. I know that it's milder than the Sulphuric Acid sold as toilet cleaning "Taizaab" in the market.

Go to any motorbike spare part shop they have those white powder for rust remmovall on Chrome. It's hardly for 100 or 200 rs. Works like a charm. I do it on my 125 every time I visit my home

They call is chrome Ka zang saaf kaarnay wala powder. Lol

By the way I couldnt find HCL so I put around 5 to 7 liters of battery electrolyte (without addition of water) left if for a while. Then drained it, all the remains of petrol , Carson deposits and other waste was drained ... Washed with detergents and now left it over night with detergent.

Now I cann only see red oxide coat which was done previously.
