its to damn spicy and oily
mandee's nehari/urdu bazar tops the chart.but people are standing in queue at that shop at fajr prayer.rush is crazy.
Kabli resteraunt standard has fallen down alot. only girls who think the waiters are good looking go there
i would prefer Habibi resteraunt platter anyday!
and yes Raees babu mohala's mutton kabab tikka karhai is priceless

The choolay chawal and chicken roast of a joint just out of the boundary of Melody food court is great. They offer only lunch services.

Also the sand/salt roasted challi ke danay are superb when eaten with peanuts.

In 1980's and early 90's there was a Turkish restaurant on Murree road in Fuji color building (below mushrooms shop). building next to Health ways. Their brain masala and turkish naans were awesome. never got same taste anywhere.

Larosh restaurant in committee chowk is also nice. food well done.

channay chaawal as well as naan-channay...economy with taste..and quicker dispensation, no time wasting....hence the choice of many office staffers with half an hour lunch break ...I hope it iz still there. thats the backside of Melody/Abparar police station, near the Melody Mosque.

i tasted both...couldnt tell the difference to be honest

RAEES TIKKA is no doubt the best of the best, i remember my final e module exams were just about to happen and i was so busy in studies so couldn't keep track of the time, around 10pm my dad was coming back to home and called the land line and asked me do you wanna eat some thing, i said yes and i was thinking he will take me to kfc but he took me to raees tikka. man that night and in the morning during exam i was practically barbing fire from frontal and rear cavities. but every time i burbed it gave me back the taste of what i had eaten at night. still some time i just wanna leave every thing and fly back to pindi to have a blast at raees, kfc, chota bazzar, savour, pc, burger express, balla tikka, texas, rahat etc.

but one thing every one should do after eating spicy food, go to jamil sweets and either eat ras malai or kheer.

again how many are aware of the raging brand war between two burger stalls with identical brands:
"Maamoo Burger" at Chandni chowk (at the back side of United Bakery)
and both claim themselves to be "Asli " Maamoo Burger
their banners are really hilarious...one cannot take this funny rivalry with a straight face.

There is a PAAYE WALA on a rerhi in front of Jilani run by a guy named Tariq. You go there at 6 AM and see the queue there. I went there 4,5 times and I have seen people jostling each time as he sells out so quickly.
He sells bare paaye and the best I have tasted in Pindi.
I have his number and I call him before I go.

Jilani's halwa puri in Lalkurti.

My brother recommended it, and I took 6 of my friends there (without ever trying it alone first) raving about its rumored taste of Kofta Currie, and Kabli Pulao etc. It was one of the most embarassing dinners. I have stopped trusting anyone unless I taste the food myself.

Jinnah Super Kabul Restaurant is not good. ordered Kofta curry and it was so disgusting.....left and went out.

About Kala Khan, I heard numerous times "Bhai 4 baje suba jaao tu milti hai aur us k baad tu khare hone ki jaga nai hoti".

A couple of weeks back, I went there and there was hardly a soul there. His Nihari is no better than Rahat Cafe in Saddar opposite Varan stop.

Give you another story. The guy at Nagina burger in F10 claims to be a relative of this Mamu Burger.

Recommended Nashtas in Pindi (in order of appearance):

• Tariq Paaye wale k Bare Paaye - Opposite Ayaan bakers in Lalkurti

Tips: Don't bother going after 6 : 00 AM, you ll come empty handed or will have a frustrating wait in the queue while regular visitors come late and get their Paaye before you do.
Drink Lassi from the main chowk of Lalkurti after the paaya session, take 2 Karmeena pills after going home and sleep it off.
Recommended time: 6 : 00 AM

• Rahat Cafe ki Nalli Nihari - Saddar
  
  Tips: Nalli runs short so you only get plain Nihari after 7:30 or so and plain is good too.
  Don't go to Rahat bakers asking for Nihari, maar par sakti hai. This Rahat Cafe is opposite Varan
  Don't go to Muhammadi Nihari nearby if you find Rahat out of stock. You may lose the taste for Nihari for good 2 months.
  Recommended time: 7 : 00 - 7 : 30 AM

• Refreshment Centre ka desi murgh - Commercial Market

Tips: Best in Winters.
Recommended time: 8 : 00 AM

• Salfi Nihari k Chote Paaye - Kashmiri Bazar

Tips: Take loads of money. I call the place Salfi Continental as it would set you back the same as a breakfast at Pearl Continental. There is more truth to it than you think.
Don't eat Nihari at Salfi Nihari. It is not that good.
Don't go late as he starts adding water to the 'shorba' and you only feel like ingesting spicy oily water.
Dress in your most worn out trousers or shalwar kameez. My cousin has this conspiracy theory that he charges more if you appear well groomed.
Recommended time: 6 : 00 AM

• Khoye waale channe - Kartaar pura

Tips: Not divine, but just to tell others I tried Khoye waale Channe. Holds pride value.
Recommended time: Whenever you are too free to drive to kartarpura.

profit does not come on its own. Profit comes with hard earned repute. Repute comes with hard work, sweat, toil, good recipes, maintenance of quality and taste and of course luck from Allah (SWT). There are hundreds of such shops and stalls, but few are success stories.

If you like Afghani cuisine...try Afghani restaurants at Peshawar Maurr, Islamabad. Enter the main shopping street /market area and inside you would find a few Afghani restaurants.
about the Jinnah Super Kabul restaurant...many years ago i went in to eat "dam-pukht" pulao, as somebody told me they have it. And was a lil embarrassed when i kept searching their menu for dam-pukht pulao....which wasnt there....had to walk out like a ninja

will try AFGHANI CUISINE next time haha and about dam-pukht pulao its there i never experienced it but my friend have very tasty reviews about it ! u should have asked the waiter !!!!!!!!!
