Force India to unveil new car on Sunday

Force India have announced that their 2009 challenger, the VJM02, will make its track debut at Jerez on Sunday. The car’s unveiling will take place ahead of a multi-team test at the Spanish circuit.

I think we all agree with what NS has said about some of the rules we must abide by. I would like to say in addition to not allowing anyone to name their team Pakwheels we should also make sure that no two teams are entered with identical names. If that happens, the person who first registered on the official Pakwheels thread, which we would start soon, will keep the name , and the other person must register a new team.

If there is anything else anyone wants to add please do so before a separate thread is made by NS for the Fantasy League game.

I am pasting the rules from Yahoo Fantasy League here which should be put on the new thread so everyone reads them after joining.

Maximum Start Details
Each driver in Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Grand Prix can be an active member of your team in no more than four races.

Once a driver has reached the four-race limit, he will no longer accumulate any fantasy points for your team even if he occupies an active roster spot. This limit does not change no matter when you join the game.

Your driver's start totals will not reset at that half-way point of the season. If you start your driver four times during the first half of the season, he will not be eligible to earn ANY fantasy points (neither qualifying nor start points) for the remainder of the season.

If you reach the four-race limit for a driver on your current roster, you will not be able to release him and subsequently reacquire him. You may keep the driver on your roster, but he will no longer accumulate any points.

If a driver is on your active roster for a given race but does not drive in that real-life event, he will not be credited with a race started.

The number of races each driver has started for you will be listed along with all of his other stats.

alrighty then... it starts...

and a twist in the honda saga... it seems that fry and brawn are teaming up to take over Honda F1... didnt see that one coming. Apparently papers are signed and with lawyers... they plan to test in Jerez and an engine deal with mclaren is also likely complete... speculations still rife about the second driver... rubens and senna are in the running...

if that is going to happen that will be amazing but one question when mclaren start providing engines they may be providing the transmission as they are also providing transmission to Force India.

Green band to distinguish softer tyres in 2009

Formula One racing returns to slicks this year after 11 seasons on grooved tyres. The change means official suppliers Bridgestone have had to change their method for marking the softer of the two compounds used at each race.

Williams reveals 2009 FW31 livery

Williams has unveiled its FW31’s livery for the new season, with its car’s predominately blue colour painted in a lighter shade than in recent years.

As has become tradition for the team, the Grove-based squad has run its car during the winter in a dark interim colour scheme before revealing its definitive livery in the weeks before the new season.

Honda buyout gets green light

Honda has given the go-ahead to a management buyout of its stricken Formula 1 team, the Daily Telegraph is reporting.

The Japanese manufacturer has been considering a number of bids since it put the Brackley-based outfit up for sale last December amid haemorrhaging road car sales.

Outgoing CEO Takeo Fukui said as recently as Monday that there were “no serious buyers” and admitted that Honda was finding the sale process difficult.

Honda sold to management group

Nick Fry and Ross Brawn are the new owners of the former Honda Racing F1 team, according to reports in the British media.

On Thursday a Honda source told the BBC that a "deal is close" but refused to say which of the two parties, Virgin or a Honda management group, were buying the team.

According to The Times, though, the deal has been struck with the Honda management group being led by team boss Ross Brawn and Honda CEO Nick Fry.

Two and a half months after Honda announced it was putting its Formula 1 outfit up for sale, the team’s prospects of making it onto the 2009 grid are still hanging in the balance.
