@genius83
No, you are wrong because on the same tracks there is more overtaking in last 2 seasons then previous years. Barcelona is a track which is never been overtaking friendly but this year they have overtaking and not in the DRS zone but in other parts of the track too.
Monaco has overtaking and that too was outside the DRS zone, in DRS zone only Hamilton has made a successful overtake against Michal.
In Montreal, because of weather we can't say for sure how much overtakes were genuine but Michal's double overtake against Massa and Kobayashi when they both were involved in their own fighting for position was good and shows the presence of mind by Michal more then anything else.
I dont recall saying there was less over taking or more. If anything, i have been saying all along that i don
t care if there is less over taking or more as long as it`s not aided by something like DRS, especially when it makes the guy in-front a sitting duck much like poor Kobayashi was in Canada. I find no excitement and nothing pleasing about that.
The 80's cars were more ground effect based then aerodynamice based, they have simpler front wings and the difference between engines were also sometimes big. Just bring back ground effect cars with simpler front wings and we will have far more slipstreaming races then with the help of DRS but teams or rather aerodynamic engineers of the teams are not interested in that because then they will lost the jobs
Find me some great passing moves from the 80's will you? Something that affected races in a big way, especially passes that were a result of less aero. I am not for aero per se, but to me it`s a very simplistic way of looking at things. No aerodynamisist is going to lose his job and bar one or two none of them are so influential as to dictate rules.
Most of the passes from the 80`s would be because of it being a Turbo era, different tracks, drivers using manual gearboxes, a back marker getting in the way, and as pointed by you, a big difference in engines across the grid.
Aerodynamics must have made things a lot harder but surprising that the same cars go to Spa and they have no problems passing. They go to Interlagos and they dont have a problem. Aero doesn
t seem to get in the way on those two tracks. I wonder why:S Cars could pass when the race was held at Indy. Now if you expect that F1 should have tracks like Valencia, a poor mans Monaco, Hungaroring, Barcelona, and most of the other tracks and still have over taking then we should get cars from the 50
s and 60`s.
As for 2005 and your record straightening fact, well you have give this fact so many times that it has now become a Jalebee;).
LOL! I can`t help that bit. You can look it up, it's all true though:)
Montoya was penalised for changing tyres in Sepang in the early season and the reason for the change was safety concerns. Later in Nurburgring, McLaren never calls Kimi in because they were afraid that it could again results a penalty.
Quite honestly, I don`t remember JPM getting a penalty in Malaysia, but then again he used to get so many penalties that it was hard to keep a count of them.
Regarding Mr Raikkonen, sorry, he was not going to get a penalty. Mclaren decided not to bring him in and gambled on Raikkonen getting to the finish. You should look that up again. There was no question of a penalty. Mclaren played the percentages and it didn't work out.
Lastly, here @khurem wants to eliminate the tyre challenge from the races, just tell me would we like to hear drivers complaining that if I have Bridgestone, I could do better when they are using Michelin/Pirelli or vice versa.
As long as Pireli get lost i don't mind what happens. Even if the cars have no tires and drive around on their rims i`d be happy:D
About the Senna movie, it is been produced with a center point on Prost/Senna rivalary and thatswhy I think they have not bother to show Senna Mansell battles from 91-92 season. Senna was loved because he was against a certain French
I thought the movie was about Senna and not just those years at Mclaren with Prost. There were other parts i thought could have been done better, for example there is a lot of Portuguese in the movie, when all that is available in English. It`s all on the video made by Antti.
Why Senna was loved? Again, you don`t want a war starting here do you?:S
