This season was quite fun. Ecstatic for Hamilton, he's in the form of his life. Drove incredibly well this year. This was such an interesting season after years. Two different teams, two different cars based on different philosophies. Mercedes with the longer wheelbase and low-rake concept and Ferrari with shorter wheelbase and high-rake. But it allowed for better aero-efficiency on the Mercedes, low drag. The suspension ban hurt them though since the car was designed around that. So for 2018, they'll have to come up with a new design instead of evolving this car. The SF70H seems like the easier car to drive and it was clearly visible. The W08 just wouldn't turn in at all into slower corners. Plus, you couldn't lean on that car. It was visible at Suzuka when Bottas crashed coming out of Spoon. He was trying to lean on the exit but the car was like, nope sorry. Gotta say though the W08 was unbeatable in cold and wet conditions. Really a car with split-personalities. SF70H on the other hand, sharp as a knife on high DF tracks and a better all-rounder. The RB13 lived up to its reputation of being unlucky for some. When one car was in with the chance for a win or a podium, the other one would be in the garage.
But 2018 is going to be fun(screw Halo though).
Also regarding 2021 PU rules, I'm sad about losing MGU-H. It's such an amazing piece of tech. Mercedes really nailed that component, their harvesting is crazy good compared to Ferrari or Renault. Where Mercedes would keep pulling away down the straight, the Ferrari and Renault would start derating. But still interested to see how the manufacturers respond and how it all turns out.

I blame Mercedes for doing such a brilliant job on MGU-H as the reason for its removal from 2021 proposal. As for the whole proposal well they are bringing back the high revving engines with max revs at 18000 rpms. So those cars will be fast but will need more fuel so they have to increase the fuel flow limit otherwise with the current fuel flow limit they need to bring back refuelling. The current cars are running at 12500 rpms max for the best power output with the current fuel flow limit while the highest revs possible for these engines are at 15000 rpms.

Well Halo will come with a new name so yep screw Halo.

I don't think refuelling is a good idea as it hurts racing more then anything else. F1 for most of its history remains without refuelling, and also the simulation softwares nowadays are more powerfull then what they were in the 90's or 00's. Just for a simple comparision when F1 decided to move towards Turbo back in 2011-12 for 2013 season which was then delayed by a year and Turbo engines regulations were introduced in 2014. The biggest concern was not reliabililty of the new engines but the fuel usage of the new engines and the risk of cars running out of fuel near the end of races but you guys could easily see how many cars have run out of fuel in this time period, yes almost none and I am talking about near 80 races in last 4 years.

Now compare that to the first turbo era of the 80's and you will see about 2-3 cars running out of fuel in the last laps in almost every race in that era.

So, what I was saying was they have to bring back optional refuelling not the compulsory refuelling if they are not increasing the fuel flow limit for the new gen engines.

As for adding of speed, well these cars are the heaviest of the F1 history and still are breaking lap records on different tracks in qualifying and race format. So refuelling is only going to make it a bit better but not by much.

Different strategies were a thing of past as I said about refuelling that simulation softwares are so much more precise that drivers input is almost negligible in making strategy about the race. Engineers simulate different strategies on the simulator and they devise the best strategy for the race and then drivers have to run according to that strategy and that is what they do during the practice sessions on the gp weekend. So the idea that refuelling could bring diversity in the strategy making of teams is just a dream.

Are you sure that you are showing us the correct video as you are saying it is the low grip settings which means the track is wet but you are using Red Supersofts which means the track is dry. Also it looks like you are driving with a low downforce setup, so increase the downforce and the lap time will drop.

I should've specified better. The track is actually green with low grip, not rubbered up(kinda like FP1 conditions). And the track is a mod(not official content). I'm on a low downforce setup with high-rake for now. It's so difficult to set this car up. Because the base setup is understeery and you have to fiddle around with it a lot. But the SF70H is so addictive when you're running high downforce. I might do another lap if I find some time over the weekend.
